i have 3 ip ranges for lan and each is for each ISP i have so i can connect to it easily and share a ISP if the other is used too much. also i have tried direct connecting and nothing changed still slow speeds from 1 pc.
covad 1500/1500 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.255
speakeasy 768/6000 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.255
optimum online 2000/30000 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.2.255
the only purpose i have is i am making a network with my friends and it gets bigger every year and i'm adding a 2 block wireless link when it gets warmer to put up but the picture of out link is here. http://vyrax.com/index.php?option=com_zoom&Itemid=33&page=view&catid=1&PageNo=1&key=13&hit=1

i'm on the 30 mb plan but i get around 20 to 24 mb to here.
-
sure smart guy if it was that easy everyone would have it but you can get in trouble for your stupidity. i'm done with you have a nice day.
-
to show off
no its not to show off cause alot of people here know i have this stuff and i already posted alot before but not why i am getting different speed to to different comps with the same specs. also i know you dont like me for some reason but whatever dont post if your not gonna help and be an ass about it. if i wanted to show off i can make a thread and post even more that i have to make you mad you cant buy it yourself.
dont take that the wrong way but you came in here first wiith that

they are all connected for me to use my 3 connections but when i use the cable 1 of the pc's gets way slower speeds than the other and they are the same but when i use the other 2 connections they are fine. now when i test the 2 pc's i go through 1 router and 1 modem with same settings. i also made sure the cables were good by switching them and even changed ports on the router. i checked everything i can think of. :
-
wow that is weird
-
for best results use one two way splitter to start with as the main... first split from the main should be a dedicated line for the modem (computer 1) and the second split for all tv's if you use the splitter that is feeding your tv's for a second modem your signal will be very weak and like richcornucopia mentioned you will need a signal booster...
i have heard of signal boosters but never seen one or heard of anyone say they use it.
-
the best way i was told is to have 1 2 way splitter and it goes to the modem and the other one goes to another splitter for the tv's.
-
i have 4 routers and 3 switches and 2 modems with 3 internet services lol. they have the same trace route and both of them can go through any of the 3 connections i have but i only have this speed problem with the cable.
-
they are servers and everything is the same cause they were bought the same time. also i have sat there all day and re-instlled the OS on each comp and installed the same software on each comp and the same settings on every program and it still didnt get the comps the same speeds. the nic cards are INTEL PRO/1000 MT and no i havent tried the registry thing yet
-
exact same computers
-
it could be the nic cause i have 2 comps of equal speed and power but totally different speeds. 1 can get 28,000 and the other cant even get 20,000 so that tells you something. also the comps have the same settings and have both been restored to new at the same time and used the same cables on both comps tested but no luck.
do you have an extra nic you could try or maybe a different pc on the same line?

well after i connect to my modem i get

even if you did uncap dsl your limited by distance and you wont get much faster anyway and if you did i can bet it wont be over 6 mb. i'm not positive but i think adsl is limited to 1 mb upload and 8 mb download and if i'm wrong correct me please.
-
i remember when i didnt get the speed i wanted it was always my equiopment according to optimum but i was sure it wasnt that and we tested it like mad and came up with the NIC card itself which for some reason it got higher pings and some bad ping spikes but i got a new nic card and everything was great so sometimes it is our hardware that causes the problem so if you happen to have an extra NIC card around try it cause it might be better.
i think you and me are the only 2 on here with boost
-
i use GAIM and its pretty cool and works great for me.
-
glad it helped
i used an old setting made for optimum online 1000/10000 and changed some settings that alowed me to get fom about 16000 to what i have now. also try to clean out your PC to get any spyware and viruses out then try to update your drivers for the nic card . 1 more thing is what is your pc's specs cause that may cause slower speeds with a slower pc.
