  3. Right now I have the D-Link router hooked up to one computer, hardwired. and then out of port 2 on the D-Link, I have that connected to the Internet In port on the Linksys (giving me wireless capability) Do you think this would reduce my speed greatly, should I switch it all onto just the Linksys?
  4. I just installed Verizon FiOS, and was wondering how I could hook up my Wireless Linksys WRT54G Router to it. Any help, thanks.

    Just got FiOS!

Although.. they said they did tests, and they jotted down a: 1.73 upload speed 14.7 download speed hm... well i'm gonna hook up the wireless router/hook up everything to the way that I'm goign to be normally using it, then retest. If anyone has any ideas/suggestions on how to optimize it, it'd be really helpful, thanks.

    Just got FiOS!

My last thread: http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-5458 They came and isntalled it while I was at school (Junior in HS) and my mom dealt with it. I came home, and I saw them walking down my driveway and he offered to show me what they had done and such. They were really nice, and now i'm running on FiOS. I'm so excited. Here are my speed results: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 11719 Kbps about 11.7 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 1431 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Thu Jun 09 2005 15:10:41 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Time) Bottom Line:: 209X faster than 56K 1MB download in 0.72 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 260.14 % faster than the average for host (verizon.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-4ESGAK0MZ :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 881 Kbps about 0.9 Mbps (tested with 1496 kB) Upload Speed is:: 108 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Thu Jun 09 2005 15:11:39 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Time) Bottom Line:: 16X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 9.48 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 87.85 % faster than the average for host (verizon.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-P7SXGODEA Wait.. is something wrong with the upload? Why is it 0.9Mbps? I ordered the 15/2 package.
  7. I see... So I should plan out the wiring from the ONT to where I want the Cat5 Outlet? Will they do the actual wiring for me, aka going into the attic, dropping the wiring down, installing the outlet? *Btw, I ordered the 15/2mbps. I'm so excited. I'm only getting 6000kbps on OOL. About how much faster will it be if I do acheive the maximum 15mbps download speed?
  8. Hi, I just ordered Verizon FiOS, in the North Bergan - NJ, area, and I'm just wondering what I should prepare for before Verizon tech arrives. I'm just clueless as to what I should tell them. I need to prepare a location for them to install the ONT, which must be outside/in the garage near a power outlet? They then wire that through the walls up to the attic and then drop the line wherever I want a Cat5 outlet to be in my house? Then from there, do they hook up their router to it and then to a computer, and then software is installed onto the computer to program the router? Now I have a wireless router (Linksys WRT54g, and I want to use that, but I ordered the free router from verizon. Is this okay?) Also, I want to place the wireless router, more or less in the center of my house - but there is no computer there. There's one about 10 feet away, against a side of the wall... can I ask them to install the outlet to the center of my house, and then just have a wire run from the computer to the router, install the router than take out the wire and just leave the wireless router sitting on the floor without a computer? Thanks for any help.
