Your right FE. I am also glad for the info (NIC 101) lol. Anyhoo any PC did not come with multiple ethernet ports and the one one I have is from an old Prosignia server which I intend to install on my PC of 2007.
All in all this was a thread to be murphed with an old topic (I couldn't find) and inform the starter on possibilities. Thanks again FE

I was looking for an old thread reguarding this matter and I believe a member was interested in changing their IP addy, I also remember a senior member posting info on changing the NIC addy to change ones' IP.
Anyhoo I wanted to inform anyone that if you have more than one ethernet port this can be done with realitive ease, here's what I have been doing.
1. I have cable and use a MotoSB5120
2. I have 3 ethernet ports (1 dual port Netelligent 10/100TX and 1 integrated 10/100/1000)
-1st. With my PC on all I did was run the command prompt: ipconfig /flushdns, then ipconfig /release power down the modem and then the PC.
-2nd. Unplug the the ethernet connection at the PC end and replug into ethernet port 2 or 3 and power up the PC (not the modem).
-3rd. After PC is powered up power up the modem and wala.
Conclusion: I can have my IP changed every time I do this procedure.
*Footnote* I even logged 9 speed results at DSLReports because I did this.

Is it me or has anyone else noticed that pages here in TMN tend to hang waiting for google.syndication... to load? Very aggravating! Any remedies for this? Anyone else notice this?

Forget that boost, I'd just prefer having a constant DLUP package like 160002000.

yea thats the reason i got them is cause they want you to beat there lines up so they know what they can do. i also was a beta tester for speakeasy testing there 768/6000 dsl line.
also here is the speeds some guy got with the 50/10 from verizon but thats all i have seen. i would also think you need a fast computer to use these speeds

Well that's right so far as the southtowns already have FiOS. We know it's in Orchard Park and I believe it's gonna roll-out south to Hamburg and after that I have no clue. I did a lot of browsing over the last couple of months to learn more on when Verizon's FiOS and Adelphia's Extreme services will roll-out in Western N.Y. and it's difficult unless you or I know of someone that actually has it here - Oh Well.
TheHalf
-
Is that $169.95 with a one year commitment or month to month? By the way congrats on FiOS deployment in your area.
TheHalf

I was browsing DSLReports and running a few tests there when I started punching in zip-codes from all over Western NY and I hit the jackpot. Orchard Park (home of the Buffalo Bills) and 20 minutes south of me has FiOS deployment. Just curious as to how long it will take Verizon to roll-out FiOS further north to my area.

The AT&T piece was within the first 2 minutes from the link on my previous post.
Now I couldn't remember the other episode in my previous post but I now have it. It's episode 74 on the NSA and their contacts with AT&T and others titled 'Who is looking at your packets?'. Here you don't have to watch the entire show to see.

Remember that AT&T is one of the telecommunication companies that are complying with the US Gov't. by submitting phone records.
Remember DigitalLifeTV? Episode 72 had a piece on AT&T (and others) who are doing this and one of the DLTV host ran a tracert and seen that hop thru ATT.
*AT&T Owns Your Data is the topic, but you may need to watch the entire episode to see.

*raises eyebrow
I'm paying 59.99 for something between 600/24 and 1000/78 or so. And that's if it's working...
Right...Here I am paying $59.95 a month for Adelphia's premiere - 6000768!!! Hell if Adelphia would roll-out there dam Extreme service (160002000) I wouldn't care about Verizon UNLESS they offered FiOS here that can beat the price of Adelphia.

I'm gonna do some more research on MRAM, I'd like to see the numbers and its compatability with hardware and OS's.
TheHalf
-
Much better to pay the ~$120.00 for a licensed copy.
That's true. Now take into consideration all the people that are computer savy who reformat their HDD's, replace their HDD's or buyassemble their PC's, that original license is only valid for soo long...until you spend another $120.00.
It has it's pros & cons and from my point of view people do what they need to do.

Commercial applications is where their gonna head out first although I'd like to see MRAM in my cell-phone.

I would say $475.00 USD Max and that's just for the tower, now you include the monitor, keyboard and mouse and you can add in another $100.00 USD.
