resopalrabotnick Posted December 31, 2005 CID Share Posted December 31, 2005 shoot yourself. it's hopeless. ok ok, just BANG! oh. durn. well, case closed. or you can read the 2 links in my sig and post all the info there and excuse me. my inquisitive 17.9 month old is doing sleep deprivation experiments. i'm just not sure on whom primarily, me or himself... let the nsa hire him as help in guantanamo?... but i digress... what are you still doing here?... you're supposed to be collecting info not reading stuff on the web... mumble.... ParkwayDrive Posted December 31, 2005 Author CID Share Posted December 31, 2005 Sorry about that, I just found out that my MTU is 1492. I'm new at this kind of stuff. Thanks for the files, my download speed went up a little but I have no idea how I can get it to 90% I followed the tutorial in the sticky but it stayed the same for the most part. :::.. cdf216 Posted December 31, 2005 CID Share Posted December 31, 2005 ok your traceroute looks fine and is within the Latency I set for the files. Do this, it's going to take editing the cablenut files I posted. Open cablenut. then remove the values in the following boxes: * MaxNormLookupMemory * MaxFreeTcbs * MaxHashTableSize * FastSendDatagramThreshhold then reboot and test again. Some DSL connections have problems with those settings.

ParkwayDrive Posted December 31, 2005 Author CID Share Posted December 31, 2005 Yeah I followed all the steps in the sticky. I have Ad-Aware and I didn't find any spyware or viruses. I tried to use ccleaner but when I click "Install", nothing happens.

They're still around 30% and 60% respectively.

I have it set at 10 right now, and I used to have it at 50 to try and get better download speeds.
VanBuren Posted December 31, 2005 CID Share Posted December 31, 2005 well its hard to tell, i suggest you test 100 works best for me by the way if the advertised speeds are 4741/634, call your ISP and let them check modem signals VanBuren

FallowEarth Posted January 13, 2006 CID Share Posted January 13, 2006 Help us out here: Any new hardware? Any new software? Still wireless (hows the signal)? Any downloads going? Firewall running? And please provide a traceroute for a time when your speed is slow.
ParkwayDrive Posted January 14, 2006 Author CID Share Posted January 14, 2006 No new hardware or software. I think the wireless signal is around 60%. No downloads going because it's too slow to download anything anyway. and I turned off my Windows Firewall a while ago. 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.2.1 2 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms dslrouter [192.168.1.1] 3 59 ms 58 ms 60 ms 10.32.59.1 4 62 ms 57 ms * 130.81.13.101 5 59 ms 65 ms 59 ms 130.81.18.90 6 * * 58 ms so-7-0-0-0.PEER-RTR1.NY111.verizon-gni.net [130. 81.17.131] 7 63 ms 58 ms 61 ms so-1-0-0-0.gar2.NewYork1.Level3.net [4.78.174.13 ] 8 66 ms 61 ms 61 ms ae-1-51.bbr1.NewYork1.Level3.net [4.68.97.1] 9 93 ms 102 ms 99 ms ae-0-0.bbr1.Dallas1.Level3.net [64.159.1.109] 10 100 ms 99 ms * ae-13-55.car3.Dallas1.Level3.net [4.68.122.143] 11 100 ms 100 ms 99 ms 4.78.221.146 12 99 ms 94 ms 100 ms vl31.dsr01.dllstx3.theplanet.com [70.85.127.29] 13 91 ms 100 ms 98 ms vl41.dsr01.dllstx4.theplanet.com [70.85.127.83] 14 99 ms 98 ms 100 ms gi1-0-1.car17.dllstx4.theplanet.com [67.18.116.6 9] 15 103 ms * 101 ms 85.67-18-179.reverse.theplanet.com [67.18.179.85 ] Trace complete. The jump from hop 2 to hop 3 is way too high. Try making a direct connection to the modem and running another trace.
