Well when we have ppl like those at Qwest (and most other major ISPs) who don't believe Americans need something like 100/100, we won't see those speeds anytime soon.  Look at Sweden; they also offer at least 10/10 to a lot of their population.  It's just sad, though...100/50 in Japan for about the price of AOL in the U.S.  Really puts thing in perspective.

Japan [obviously] has amazing bandwidth.  I remember reading in some Networking magazine earlier in '05 that Hong Kong alone has a backbone with throughput in the neighborhood of 64,000Gbit, although numbers might be a bit off  :?  And a lot of it (if not most) is fiber!
