Only bad thing about living in a small town they are the only choice for broadband here. Tech guy told me they limit bandwidth. I am paying $70 per month for 1024/512. mbrainerd Posted December 15, 2004 Author CID Share Posted December 15, 2004 A 10220 rwin setting seems to work the best. I am still complaining to the phone company. I live in an area where there the population is about 10,000 for the whole county. I am about 9000 feet from the CO. I am getting numbers but at last count their were only about 450 DSL subscribers in the whole county! I told tech support I would like to get what I am paying for. Explained to him in these term "How would you like it if everytime you went to the store and bought a 12 pack of beer and when you get home there are only 7 beers in it". He said he understands and will get back with me. I will keep you all posted!!

mbrainerd Posted January 3, 2005 Author CID Share Posted January 3, 2005 Thanx. Hopefully they will be bringing the modem out tomorrow. So I will post up when I get it. connected. I also found out that my ISP was blocking some ports and filtering them, they did that about 6 months ago when they were viruses going around. I found that out when I got my VOIP phone. Lingo was telling me that my' port 69 was either being blocked or filtered. Does that effect my speeds any??

VanBuren Posted January 5, 2005 CID Share Posted January 5, 2005 heyas mbrainerd the ping to your first hop (gateway) is still too high, show this to your ISP and say you want a ping below 30 ms, that should not be impossible even if its interleaved service. 3 51 ms 49 ms 49 ms gf-dyn-gateway.gtec.net [66.117.105.1] VanBuren
mbrainerd Posted January 5, 2005 Author CID Share Posted January 5, 2005 I know the ping is still to high. Does it mean anything when it times out on 2 like it is doing? Never did it before. I know this will sound like a dumb question but what does my ISP have to do do get my ping where it needs to be. They will never give me a straight answer, just that it is the normal time. I cannot even get them to unblock port 69 so my Lingo phone will work. Lingo had to do s/thing on their end to make it work. Isp stated they were working on it. So if you could let me know what they need to do , I can relay it to them.
