bt_broadband Posted February 21, 2006 CID Share Posted February 21, 2006 hey guys, i have a problem guys, i had just re-installed xp home on my pc as it was all clogged up, now only to find that it first let me go-on straight after doing that xp registration screen thing. now whenever i boot up, it asks for it ( well not everytime like 2/4 times), it will only work if i choose cd and 1st boot-up and then have xp disc in then it will work, what is going on. here are my pc specs Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo-p Intel Pentium 4 cpu @ 3.4ghz 2gb of RAM what can be going wrong Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

cyberbeing Posted February 21, 2006 CID Share Posted February 21, 2006 First I recommend you check your bios to make sure your HDD boot order is the same as it was before you installed. If that doesn't work insert your XP CD and enter the recovery console. Type: bootcfg There will be a list of options. Type: bootcfg /rebuild (I think thats what it is called) Select your windows instalation. For ID just put: WinXP Home (or whatever you want to call it) For boot options put: /fastdetect When that is done type: Exit When your computer reboots pick whatever you named the ID in the OS loaded screen Hopefully it will boot.
