That's actually a better way to have it.

Right click the reg file and click Merge to add it to the registry.  If you really want merge to be the default action I can tell you how to do that.

When I try the merge it still opens in notepad. I would really like to just have it install automatically. Running xp pro. Thank you much.

open any folder, click Tools, Folder Options, File Types tab, scroll down to REG.  Click Advanced.  Select Merge in the window that comes up.  Click edit.

Action:

regedit.exe "%1"

click ok, the click Set Default, ok, close.
