Swimmer Posted June 21, 2006 CID Share Posted June 21, 2006 I think your router doesnt respond to ICMP traffic on the LAN side.. u have a dlink router?
resopalrabotnick Posted June 21, 2006 CID Share Posted June 21, 2006 you're blocking icmp commands from insie and outside?
Swimmer Posted June 21, 2006 CID Share Posted June 21, 2006 it would be inside.. I know you can block from wifi.. part of the security scheme to prevent DoS on a wifi system.. If it is hard wired.. that is going to be a bit harder to trace down.. For some reason I thought that my old Dlink 624+ didnt respond to tracert either.. I am looking on my wrt54g to see if I can duplicate anything like that and I have yet to find anything even close..

kamikaze3e Posted June 25, 2006 CID Share Posted June 25, 2006 I think that I'm having the same problem. I have a Dlink 624 router and it just disconnects me every once and a while. I'm not technical at all though so i dunno. Anything i could to fix it?
ballista Posted June 25, 2006 CID Share Posted June 25, 2006 Kamikaze if you're having problems with your 624 cutting out try a new power source for it. I know the earlier versions of the router had horrible power sources that were prone to send to much current to the router causing it to overheat and cut out. Just something you may wanna try. I believe versions 1-3 are the worst for this. My brother has a version 4 and it has caused him no grieve whatsoever.
kamikaze3e Posted July 1, 2006 CID Share Posted July 1, 2006 what do you mean by new power source? like a new power bar thing or just plug it into a different plug? sorry im not that technical
ballista Posted July 2, 2006 CID Share Posted July 2, 2006 Yeah a new power bar just grab one from radio shack or somewhere.
resopalrabotnick Posted July 2, 2006 CID Share Posted July 2, 2006 you mean replace the power supply. grab the little power supply brick off the router and take that in to compusa, radio shack or some other place that sells 'em and have the salesperson pick a suitable replacement. since you are nontechnical i am just saying this so you don't just get a new power strip. (thinking that by power bar you mean the multioutlet powerstrip you might have.)
