St. Velkro Posted July 15, 2006 CID Share Posted July 15, 2006 Forgive me if this is an old question, or if it's not one that is appropriate for this list. Question: what is the speed/bandwidth that is reasonable to actually expect from cable hook ups to Internet? And/Or: what may one legally expect from cable hook-ups? I'm getting ~ 89% up, and 67% down ("of host average" -- rr.com).
brock01 Posted July 15, 2006 CID Share Posted July 15, 2006 Welcome to the forum St. Velkro post your results and say what your paying for "of host average -- rr.com" well they have different packages so that throws off the "average" for your package but 90%+ is good
Swimmer Posted July 16, 2006 CID Share Posted July 16, 2006 St. Velkro.. welcome to the forum! There are a few thing to take into consideration.. When you see the % after the test that is everyone on the entire site regardless of what package they have.. So if you have a 5000 download and 256 upload your % would still be calculated with the 8000/512 people.. being on road runner.. From what your speeds are it looks like you are on the 5000/384 package.. In which case the upload is quite a bit low.. That could be a signal problem.. or just a lot of usage on your node.. However, the download, with some tweaking, should be able to get right around your cap.. that is pretty a pretty solid score. Hope that help.. if you are intersted in tweaking.. http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-2097 read that then post..
