VanBuren Posted January 13, 2005 CID Share Posted January 13, 2005 what you can try to do is enable timestamping download Dr.TCP http://www.dslreports.com/front/DRTCP021.exe open it set Tcp Recive Window to 28800 and enable Timestamping and click apply reboot your pc VanBuren
legiwei Posted January 13, 2005 Author CID Share Posted January 13, 2005 The only thing that I've done is enable timestamping and reconfigure the MTU to 1480 as in the guide by dslreport tweaks. But my upload/download speed is still terrible. So, this means there isn't anything I can do anymore? Anyway, thanks for the help again. VanBuren Posted January 13, 2005 CID Share Posted January 13, 2005 a MTU of 1480 is most common used on PPPoE dsl with win XP and no router you dont need to change MTU at all, Path MTU detection is enabled by default delete all tweaks you used, in Dr:TCP clear out any value in MTU field and click save. do the changes i suggested in previous post, leave all other settings as default click save reboot VanBuren

cholla Posted January 13, 2005 CID Share Posted January 13, 2005 Hi legiwei: I have a windows 98 se here of some of the registry tweaks in my system. I am putting the usual disclaimer don't mess with your registry if you don't know what you are doing.I am not responsible if you crash your system.Backup your registry before doing any tweaks to it.That being said here are the tweaks they are not origionally mine & can be found on the web at various sites but not all at one site.Even if you don't add them it won't hurt to check out your registry to see what is in these locations...Your MTU can be determined by ping if you can ping there is plenty of info on how to do ping on the web.If you can't ping then ask the techs at your isp what it should be. HKML/system/currentcontrolset/services/MSTCP "DefaultRcvWindow" without quotes Dword this should already be in the right pane value is your rwin HKML/system/currentcontrolset/services/MSTCP/parameters "GlobalMaxTCPWindoSize" without quotes add as string value in right pane it probably won't already be there. The Windo part of this tweak is correct there is not a w at the end of window. The value is your rwin HKML/system/currentcontrolset/services/MSTCP/Ndi/params Dword "(Default)"without quotes set at your MTU value Dword named "@" without quotes set at your MTU value HKML/system/currentcontrolset/services/class/net/000 "IPMTU" without quotes Dword in right pane set at your MTU value HKML/system/currentcontrolset/services/class/net/000/Ndi/params/IPMTU Dword "(Default)"without quotes set at your MTU value Dword named "@" without quotes set at your MTU value add values to right pane HKML/system/currentcontrolset/services/class/net/000/Ndi/params/IPMTU/enum delete the values for "Large" "medium" & "small" without quotes Leave tht values for "Automatic" &(default) rename "automatic" your MTU value like "1500" for example the put in "Automatic" without quotes as the value of the dword it should look something like this example I could not copy the Dword symbol so where I type Dword is where the symbol would be Dword 1500
