Well, I am just about to go insane with cablenut ccs settings!!  :whaa:

I must have tried 30-40 different variations ... and am not getting anywhere!!!

I have Cox 9000 / 1000 (Wichita, KS) and according to the cox techs, I have a really good signal.  Well, if it's so good, why am I only getting about 1/3 the speed I am paying for?!?!

I need help...please!

Here are my particulars:

Win XP Pro, SP2

1GB Ram

AMD 1800+

- Windows Firewall Disabled

- Norton UNINSTALLED

- I run SpyBot and AdAware on a regular basis

- I remove TEMP files every other day

- I run ccleaner

- There is nothing checked under my LAN connection

- Under LAN connections - no other protocols are installed

- I am connected via Ethernet cable

- I have never installed ZoneAlarm

- I use various antivirus scanners:  AVG, McAfee, Avast

- I check for and download any/all Windows updates at least once a week

- I have used CableNut, TCP Optimizer ... and so far without luck!

- and I have been doing my prayers, but again...no luck  :lol:

Below are my results with https://www.speedguide.net:8080 -- and below that are my speed test results -- and below that are my current cablenut settings...

If anyone has ANY suggestions on what I should try...or of you can share cablnut ccs fiels...I am all ears and would VERY MUCH appreciate it!!!!!

------- SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer -------

TCP options string = 020405b40103030301010402

MTU = 1500

MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460

Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 513920

RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 3 bits (scale factor of 6)

Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 64240

RWIN is a multiple of MSS

Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:

513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8) <-- current value

256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)

128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your TCP Window limits you to: 20556.8 kbps (2569.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms

Your TCP Window limits you to: 8222.72 kbps (1027.84 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 55 hops

TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00010000 (16)

Precedence (priority) = 000 (routine)

Delay = 1 (low delay)

Throughput = 0 (normal throughput)

Reliability = 0 (normal reliability)

Cost = 0 (normal cost)

Check bit = 0 (correct, 8th checking bit must be zero)

DiffServ (RFC 2474) = No valid DiffServ equivalent. See the TCP Optimizer documentation, or RFCs 2474, 2475, 2597, 2598, 2873.

i assume hop 2 is your modem, and the first a router

try bypass your router and connect your PC direct to modem, also powercycle modem, leave it off for atleast 2 minutes.

1    *        *        *    Request timed out.

  2    10 ms    11 ms    *    ip68-103-166-1.ks.ok.Cox.net [68.103.166.1]

now make a new speedtest and a tracert.

Edit: if you dont have a router, then hop 1 is your modem, if so, check the wires and powercycle, if that dosent help call your ISP, cos then the problem is between your modem and Cox gateway.
