VanBuren Posted August 12, 2006 CID Share Posted August 12, 2006 you could try this http://www.download.com/No-IP-DUC-Dynamic-Update-Client-/3000-2165-10055182.html?part=dl-NoIPDUCDy&subj=dl&tag=button it was a while since i used it myself, but i think you can forward it to 8080 instead of default port 80 in options you also need to register for a free domain name, and password here http://www.no-ip.com/services/managed_dns/free_dynamic_dns.html Try us out for free No-IP Free is our entry level service. Use yourname.no-ip.com instead of a hard to remember IP address or URL. Additionally use our dynamic update client to keep track of your dynamic IP address. You will always be able to get to your computer even if you IP address is dynamically assigned. Applications No-IP Free DNS has endless uses. Remotely connect to your computer from work. Run a personal website, access your DVR, run a FTP, game, or mail server. The options are endless. Port 80 Redirects Many residential ISPs Block port 80, No-IP Free DNS enables you to run a webserver on a non-standard port, yet users accessing your site never have to enter a port number. For example http://yourname.no-ip.com/ can redirect to http://yourname.no-ip.com:8833/ Choose from any of these free subdomains: * bounceme.net * hopto.org * myftp.biz * myftp.org * myvnc.com * no-ip.biz * no-ip.info * no-ip.org * redirectme.net * servebeer.com * serveblog.net * servecounterstrike.com * serveftp.com * servegame.com * servehalflife.com * servehttp.com * servemp3.com * servepics.com * servequake.com * sytes.net * zapto.org We also have tons of less impacted domains to choose from when upgrading to No-IP VanBuren
dlewis23 Posted August 12, 2006 CID Share Posted August 12, 2006 what van said is one way to do it, most domain providers such a godaddy allow you to just simply redirect a domain from domain.com:80 to domain.com:8080 on there end so you dont have to do anything. Swimmer Posted August 12, 2006 CID Share Posted August 12, 2006 This is possible.. but remember the TOS are still in effect.. hosting a server off a consumer connection could cause the ISP to terminate your account and could land you in some hot water.. dlewis23 Posted August 13, 2006 CID Share Posted August 13, 2006 HaZeX just a word of advice, like swimmer said the TOS is still in effect, so i would not run your server or port 8080 because that is the next most common port for a webserver in a home, i would pick odd port.
