guyton Posted August 19, 2006 CID Share Posted August 19, 2006 I'm using a Motorola Cable Modem SB5120 and when I type 192.168.100.1. When I type it in my web broswer to get to my modems configuration it times out in firefox, or says page not available in internet explorer. I'm new at using the cable modem and I'm trying to open UDP Port 6112 to play War/Starcraft.
FGOKURULES Posted August 20, 2006 CID Share Posted August 20, 2006 Sounds like ur cable company is blocking ur port If you can change ports within ur game try changing it to port 80:UDP this is the port ur web browser uses to access the Web, should work if u can, but don't use the net at the same time. Blunted 2 Posted August 20, 2006 CID Share Posted August 20, 2006 if it is cable port 80 is blocked by default on most cable isp's and i doubt that port 6112 is blocked. are you using a router cause your modem has nothing to do with the ports? guyton Posted August 20, 2006 Author CID Share Posted August 20, 2006 No I'm not using a router. Another thing that was strange to me is at first I was able to play, but not host now I cant do anything without the port.
Blunted 2 Posted August 20, 2006 CID Share Posted August 20, 2006 did you change anything at all cause i dont think they block that port ? do you have a software firewall on your comp ?

You can't open up ports in a cable modem they have no firewall built in, its not like a DSL modem. just removed it but nothing seemed to have happend but a faster startup if that did nothing you need to check the windows firewall, that is probally blocking it. Blunted 2 Posted August 20, 2006 CID Share Posted August 20, 2006 it has to be some software on your comp not letting it connect cause that would be really weird if they block that port
