First of all, thanks in advance to any of you that can help me.  I really appreciate whatever help I can get.

Below is my current information.

1.  Operating System

Windows XP Professional with SP2

2.  Internet Service Provider

Comcast - 6000 / 786

3.  Tweak Programs

I've installed CableNut and TCPOptimizer

SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer

TCP properties for IP = XX.XXX.XXX.XX ()

Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; InfoPath.1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727)

Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405b40103030401010402

MTU = 1500

MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460

Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 749568

RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 4 bits (scale factor of 8)

Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 46848

For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.

Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:

513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)

256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)

128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your TCP Window limits you to: 29982.72 kbps (3747.84 KBytes/s) @ 200ms

Your TCP Window limits you to: 11993.088 kbps (1499.136 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 49 hops

TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00100000 (32)

Precedence (priority) = 001 (priority)

Delay = 0 (normal delay)

Throughput = 0 (normal throughput)

Reliability = 0 (normal reliability)

Cost = 0 (normal cost)

Check bit = 0 (correct, 8th checking bit must be zero)

DiffServ (RFC 2474) = CS1 001000 (8) - class 1 (RFC 2474). Similar forwarding behavior to the ToS Precedence field.

Bottom Line:: 51X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 2.85 sec

Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 8.328 seconds to complete

Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 53.43 % of your hosts average (comcast.net)

You see that this ping has significantly higher times than the others, showing that you've got some latency happening somewhere along the line.

Your router is not allowing ICMP traffic. You should be able to enable this in the administration page of the router. You should be able to access this by typing 192.168.0.1 into the address bar of your browser. If not, I would suggest bypassing your router and running another ping, traceroute, and speedtest. It may be that your router is slowing you down.

Looks like it was my router slowing me down.

I connected to the cable modem directly and got great speed tests.

I couldn't figure out how to enable ICMP traffic.  I looked trhough all the admin pages of the browser, but didn't see an option to enable ICMP traffic.  Will there be an option that says, Enable ICMP traffic?

Since it's my router slowing me down, is there any router tweaks / settings I can change so that it doesn't slow down my connection as much?
