hi,

i'm from brunei darussalam(asia)... really need help to optimize my speed.

first of all, i using  pentium 4 1.6 with window xp professional editition sp2 connected to a ADSL(huawei modem) via ethernet and my ISP is e-speed2(brunet.bn)<------ this ISP really sucks and its the only provider in my country.... :angry2:

anyway,

i've subscibed to 512kbps for almost 2 months now and my current speed is about 197kbps which is 39% of the promised speed.. i've already file a complaint about my connection speed but no feedback what so ever... my ISP said that the low speed just temporary(1-2 weeks) since its a new installation, but now its almost 2 months and no changes... :angry5:

CAN SOMEONE HELP ME!! :D

here's my result with test.net

Your connection is: 162 Kbps or 0.16 Mbps

You Downloaded at: 20 kB/s

You are running: 3 times faster than 56K and can Download 1 megabyte in 51.2 second(s)

Member Ident:Username:black_mambra CompID:1853898002796

Test Time:: 2006/09/22 - 5:43pm

Test Browser and OS info: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)

Test ID: K0N2BJV6T (if this is a screenshot go to testmy.net to see if this is fake)

Diagnosis ^info^: May need help : running at only 52.6 % of your hosts average (brunet.bn)

This was tested from a 5248 kB file and took 266.172 seconds to complete

Welcome to the forum black_mambra  :wave:

Have you read this link?

"Achieve the Best Performance Out of Your Computer"

http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-4257

And to make it easier, you might also try instead the TCP Optimizer. Most folks find it much easier to use. And I also find it faster for me than cablenut.

Same link as the cable-nut.

http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-1013

Also try this test. And clean out your temp files before clicking on it. (Tools in browser*Internet Options*Delete Files including Offline content*OK*OK*test.

http://www.testmy.net/dl-2992

You will also be a little slower from over seas.  ;)

i've this one and here is the result:

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Download Connection is:: 529 Kbps about 0.53 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)

Download Speed is:: 65 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net/'>https://testmy.net/ (Server 1)

Test Time:: 2006/09/23 - 5:59am

Bottom Line:: 9X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 15.75 sec

Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 46.313 seconds to complete

Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 74.01 % faster than the average for host (brunet.bn)

:shock:

but again when i try to retest it, the result:

:::.. testmy.net test results ..:::

Download Connection is:: 155 Kbps about 0.16 Mbps (tested with 386 kB)

Download Speed is:: 19 kB/s

Upload Connection is:: 409 Kbps about 0.41 Mbps (tested with 748 kB)

it doesn't make ant sense at all, first my speed jump to 500kbps then afterward it drop back to 155kbps...... :?:

i've already scan my pc for virus n spyware, checkdisk and defrag....

any suggestion?

btw.. this is my TCP/IP anlyzer:

TCP properties for IP = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ()

Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)

Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405a00103030101010402

MTU = 1480

MTU is optimized for Windows XP PPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising MTU to 1500 for optimal throughput.

MSS = 1440

MSS is optimized for Windows XP PPPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising your MTU value.

Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 65536

RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 1 bits (scale factor of 2)

Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 32768

RWIN is not fully optimized (even though it is a comparatively large number). The unscaled RWIN value is lower than it should be. Also, RWIN being close to and above 65535 does not justify the header overhead of enabling TCP 1323 Options. You might want to use one of the recommended RWIN values below.

For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.

Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:

506880 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)

253440 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)

126720 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

63360 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your TCP Window limits you to: 2621.44 kbps (327.68 KBytes/s) @ 200ms

Your TCP Window limits you to: 1048.576 kbps (131.072 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 114 hops

TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

hope this will help...

When retesting you go back and use the smart test which is the reason for your slow speeds partly. Use the 2992 file test, not the smart one.

This one "Largest - 2992 kB" not this one "SmarTest- Starts with Small then picks for you!"

The smart one fills up your cache, and does not give you a big enough file to test with.

Also try installing a "TCPOptimizer" it will help with those speeds.

http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-1013

The TCP Optimiizer is the easiest way to go.

SpeedGuide.net,

Just set the dial to about 600+, run through the routine, and reboot and go.  :D
