sysco174 Posted December 30, 2006 CID Share Posted December 30, 2006 OK last night my MTU was stuck at 1472 and its still stuck. But now every test has been getting worst! ISP is bellsouth w/ 6.0M extreme dsl, xp pro sp2, zoom x5v voip gateway modem. last night my download speed was 399kB/s, and today it dropped to 143kB/s and I should be around 700 - 800kB/s. Todays test score :::.. coknuck Posted December 30, 2006 CID Share Posted December 30, 2006 Were you getting better speeds before you started using the tweek programs?
sysco174 Posted December 30, 2006 Author CID Share Posted December 30, 2006 My speed dropped when I got a new modem. I have done the MTU test in dos and it shows that I'm at 1464 then add 28 which puts me at 1492. And my zoom x5v modem is also set at 1492 but something isn't right because speeds have been slowing down. I have also done spy ware, virus, add ware checks and they come up clean. But speeds did drop when I installed the new modem though. I even went through zoom tech support and they said nothing is wrong with the modem. ???? I just don't know
coknuck Posted December 30, 2006 CID Share Posted December 30, 2006 I like you if all I did was replace the modem and it went to shit I would suspect it also. Can you take it back to Bell and get a new one. Or just put your old one back in?
sysco174 Posted December 30, 2006 Author CID Share Posted December 30, 2006 Thats one of the problems also. The new modem I purchased and bell wont support it because it didnt come from them. There modem is a Westell 6100, the little black box. I'm gonna try a swap to see if the modem is the problem or the line. be back in
sysco174 Posted December 30, 2006 Author CID Share Posted December 30, 2006 Our thoughts were right! Coknuck, I guess you can say 2 geeks= Super Geeks I only did 1 test but... ::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 5683 Kbps about 5.7 Mbps (tested with 5983 kB) Download Speed is:: 694 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1) Test Time:: 2006/12/30 - 9:42am Bottom Line:: 99X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 1.48 sec Tested from a 5983 kB file and took 8.625 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 80.18 % faster than the average for host (bellsouth.net) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-KR8XZWFHI User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1 [!] I wrote down all of the specs for bell's settings and I'm gonna try to set up the new modem. Only reason why is because the zoom modem data specs are waaaaay better than the westell.
