Rlanham Posted March 28, 2007 CID Share Posted March 28, 2007 I have Insight 10/1mbs broadband, and get advertised speeds during the day, but at peak times.. it slows by 75%. Insight says my connection is fine, after spending the usual 30-mins on the phone with them blaming the router. Anyone having similar problems? and how did you get them to correct it? :::::::::::::::::.. testmy.net test results ..::::::::::::::::: Download Connection is:: 2494 Kbps about 2.49 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 304 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 943 Kbps about 0.9 Mbps (tested with 1496 kB) Upload Speed is:: 115 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2007/03/27 - 8:41pm D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-2RFIKYNUJ U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-CK7IHA2FL User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; Media Center PC 4.0; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) TRACERT Hop # Avg ms Loss % Graph Address 1 0 100 192.168.1.1 2 11 74.133.232.1 (74-133-232-1.dhcp.insightbb.com) 3 13 74.134.3.5 (74-134-3-5.dhcp.insightbb.com) 4 13 74.134.0.185 (74-134-0-185.dhcp.insightbb.com) 5 89 74.128.8.189 6 26 67 144.228.154.197 (sl-gw36-chi-6-0.sprintlink.net) 7 29 144.232.26.69 (sl-bb20-chi-5-0.sprintlink.net) 8 32 144.232.26.6 (sl-bb22-chi-14-0.sprintlink.net) 9 20 144.232.20.21 (sl-st21-chi-11-0.sprintlink.net) 10 20 144.223.241.78 (sl-timewarner-14-0.sprintlink.net) 11 21 66.192.244.36 (core-01-so-4-1-0-0.chcg.twtelecom.net) 12 47 66.192.255.92 (core-01-so-1-0-0-0.dlfw.twtelecom.net) 13 133 66.192.253.121 (hagg-02-ge-2-3-0-506.dlfw.twtelecom.net) 14 46 168.215.241.134 15 50 64.29.192.197 (daa.g920.ispa.datareturn.com) 16 59 64.29.192.230 (daa.g921.disa.datareturn.com) 17 40 64.29.192.213 (daa.g906.p40a.datareturn.com) 18 41 64.29.201.21 (pcpitstop.com) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Swimmer Posted March 28, 2007 CID Share Posted March 28, 2007 can you post a full tracert to testmy.net?? From what you posted, not sure on the OS, but it looks like there is a router issue just as you get transfered off of Insight's network and onto sprint's in chicago.. Which is a real surprise considering that Chicago is a pretty big hub.. You may not be out of trouble yet.. I was looking at the scheduled maintenance for the next week or so and there is a lot of hardware being replaced in Chicago right now.. I was unable to find anything for your specific router right now... but I am willing to bet that there is additional traffic on it because of the maintenance.. coknuck Posted March 28, 2007 CID Share Posted March 28, 2007 We had slow speeds for a while here at night in the beginning, but it has stableized a lot. Not to many glitches lately. Do you get bad speeds at http://sp1.insightbb.com/ at night or is when you get out of Insight. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Rlanham Posted March 28, 2007 Author CID Share Posted March 28, 2007 Today (Morning) Your Download Speed = 9.75Mbps or 1.21MBytes/sec Your Upload Speed = 963.37Kbps or 120.42KBytes/sec Thanks, I will try that AGAIN tonight if (when) it slows this evening. I assume that If tonight I get slow speeds, but normal speeds at http://sp1.insightbb.com.. then IT is out of insights control? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
coknuck Posted March 28, 2007 CID Share Posted March 28, 2007 Pretty much. You can do what I did when they say its out of their control. Ask for a credit. Then they will say "out of our control". I say I pay you, you pay them and I want a credit! I pay you for complete serving its not my problem you are getting screwed. Be firm about it .
