Supreme1 Posted August 24, 2007 CID Share Posted August 24, 2007 Alright i have a 4 port router but i need like 4 more ports, was i just dreaming or is there something i can buy to increase the number of ports. I always thought a switch would do that but i may be way off. Any help is appreciated.
resopalrabotnick Posted August 24, 2007 CID Share Posted August 24, 2007 just jack a switch in behind the router and you're golden.
Supreme1 Posted August 24, 2007 Author CID Share Posted August 24, 2007 see that's what i was thinking all need to take a look at Newegg see what they have. You have any suggestions? just needs to be a tiny one as mentioned
resopalrabotnick Posted August 24, 2007 CID Share Posted August 24, 2007 i wouldn't go with the highest priced brand name stuff, but i would also avoid the lowest prices. go by your wallet and what the user reviews say.
Supreme1 Posted August 24, 2007 Author CID Share Posted August 24, 2007 i shall ask another question just to make absolutely sure. when i buy one all i do is put a Ethernet from the router to the switch and from there i can just plug in the other Ethernet pieces i needed in the switch. im not to great with words =p
resopalrabotnick Posted August 24, 2007 CID Share Posted August 24, 2007 the headbone is connected to the neckbone most switches will have an uplink port. run a cable from that to one of the ports on the router. then plg all your machines into the switch. (just keeps it tidy. you can of course continue using the other available ports on the router)
