junkieXL Posted November 5, 2007 CID Share Posted November 5, 2007 Since installing Vista Ultimate (previous OS was 2000 Pro) my comcast cable drops it's signal once a day & will not reconnect until i reboot the Linksys router (running 1 wireless connection). Rebooting the cable modem does not reset the connection. Any insight to this minor although quite annoying problem is appreciated~! router is a Wireless-G WRT54G Linksys modem is RCA DCM305 -JunkieXL
resopalrabotnick Posted November 5, 2007 CID Share Posted November 5, 2007 as reported in another thread there appear to be some issues with linksys routers and vista. from the description of the problem it seems that as in the other case either the DHCP server on the router or vista are having trouble reestablishing the lease for an assigned dynamic IP. the established workaround seems to be to assign a static IP to the computer thereby circumventing any DHCP issues altogether.
