jontalk Posted February 5, 2005 CID Share Posted February 5, 2005 I'm brand new here and would like to see if I can increase my speed.. My system is an Athlon 64 running at 2.8 ghz, 512 mb RAM, with Win 2K. I have Comcast and use a D-Link hub as a firewall. Comcast just installed a new Terayon modem and it's plugged inot the D-Link, then into my NIC card. Here's the speed result tests: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 2589 Kbps about 2.6 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB) Download Speed is:: 316 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Test Time:: Sat Feb 5 08:11:57 PST 2005 Bottom Line:: 46X faster than 56K 1MB download in 3.24 sec Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/id-T8V1HY9S0 I also posted my HiJack This log on Virtual Doctor and the geeks there said it looks good.. Let me know what you think.. Jonathan

jontalk Posted February 5, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 5, 2005 Thanks.. of many of the things on the list, I have done these, except the Cablenut tweaks. I have not downloaded this program nor changed the settings. I am not a geek and am a little nervous about using this program especially if it causes any system problems. I run Win 2K on my Athlon 64 system with plenty of RAM etc.. I have used Crap Cleaner often, and have Ad Aware and Spyware Blaster too.. I just changed the NIC card settings to 100mb full duplex as stated, since I use a DLink router between the modem and nic card.. If you can assist with the Cablenut deal in order that I don't disrupt a system that runs well, I'd appreciate it.. Other than that, all firmware is the latest and my Win 2K is fully updated and scanned of viruses or spyware. Thanks!
REV0LUTI0NIZED Posted February 5, 2005 CID Share Posted February 5, 2005 In my opinion, I think you should put your NIC card setting to auto detect and also download CableNut to improve your Internet Connection. http://cablenut.com/ Also whats your cap

jontalk Posted February 5, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 5, 2005 Sorry, but am having difficulty following your directions.. When I open the Adjuster, then go to File, the menu says "Open Custom Settings File". When I click there, the folder is "CCS" and when I click on this, the options are "Cable, DSL, etc".. Not sure where to go as when I go to the cable folder it has about 4 choices there.. What am I doing that's different from your instructions as it's not the same.. Thanks again.. VanBuren Posted February 5, 2005 CID Share Posted February 5, 2005 check for this in my previous post "* Cable & DSL 3500 384.zip (0.28 KB - downloaded 0 times.)" click on that and save it, unzip it to C:ProgramCablenut and you will find it next to ccs folder VanBuren
REV0LUTI0NIZED Posted February 5, 2005 CID Share Posted February 5, 2005 Alright, just open Adjuster and put these numbers in the boxs. When your done click , "Save to Registry". After you have done all this just reboot your computer. And test again. Then post your results to check if there was any kind of improvement on your Inernet Connection

jontalk Posted February 5, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 5, 2005 Thanks.. so I presume I should leave the tweak settings where they are rather than change the one that Speedy Final mentioned?
VanBuren Posted February 5, 2005 CID Share Posted February 5, 2005 I got one more suggestion. Were it says Tcp13230pts, I think you should put 1. Do you agree Van Buren you only need to set windows scaling if your TcpWindowsize and GlobalMaxTcpWindowsize is above 65535 quote from www.dslnuts.com "23. Tcp1323Opts - This parameter controls RFC 1323 time stamps and window-scaling options. Time stamps and window scaling are enabled by default, but can be manipulated with flag bits. Bit 0 controls window scaling, and bit 1 controls time stamps. Value Type: REG_DWORD

REV0LUTI0NIZED Posted February 5, 2005 CID Share Posted February 5, 2005 Or you can use this Tweak Setting and see which one works better for you.
