ninjageek Posted January 9, 2008 CID Share Posted January 9, 2008 Tried to update my sound card drivers, Have the gforce 8600 GT. When I install then reboot I am getting the dreaded blue screen of death. Gotta jump into safe mode, uninstall, Then the computer boots up fine. Been to long but if I rember right there is a trick to it? Dont I have to uninstall my card, reboot, install the updated drivers, then reboot again? Or is there something I am missing and or forgetting?
Voltageman Posted January 15, 2008 CID Share Posted January 15, 2008 Do you mean you updated your Video card drivers? Or is there an 8600 GT soundcard? If you do mean your Video card, try downloading "Nasty File Remover"(attached) and install it. -Go into Add/Remove Programs and Uninstall the Nvidia Display Drivers. Do not Reboot. -Run Nasty File Remover, and select Nvidia. -Check found files and remove them(back up to zip file first..there is an option to do so). NOTE: Uncheck the OpenAl files(or similar..can't remember exact file names). If you do happen to check those files, and remove them, you may have to reinstall your sound drivers. -Reboot into safe mode, and run the updated driver package.
