cr8tive Posted May 8, 2008 CID Share Posted May 8, 2008 My desktop took a nose dive. My tech that built my desktop for me thinks it's the Nic going down. What I have. Desktop pc XP OS Verizon DSL D-link to cheesey verizon router. I use firefox browser thunderbird mail client I have hijack this Also windoctor and I forget the name but it starts with a Ka-something? I'm looking for a education and some help. It started out,..... coming home to find my SO let a friend in my den to wait for me. When I walked in he was messing with my desktop and his Ipod. I was/am still not happy about this at all. The PC was running like a slug. Not getting better yet. These results are with avast and comodo OFF. I also did command prompt for yahoo it couldn't find it. A few other command prompts I have a screen shot of. Not familiar with the forum yet. To know if you do attachments or outside hosted images. If there is a screen shot tute on setting up DSL that would be great. I learn the best with visuals. Here are the grim test results. :::.. cr8tive Posted May 8, 2008 Author CID Share Posted May 8, 2008 Appreciated. I have been using these programs/methods to do these tasks. adAware, spybot, O and O defrag, Avast, comodo, Firefox, thunderbird mail client. I cleaned up and out over 600 junk temp files yesterday. I have 2 registery errors for some silly garden site that I haven't gotten resolved and may not. I have 6 files that keep re-inventing themselves they are temp files and Thumbs.db files. I do avast boot scan once a week. I use Crapcleaner now called The Cleaner I guess all the time. At the moment I have O and O defrag doing a defrag on boot. Is there a test to show what my DSL connections are and if they need to be corrected? Is there a test to see if my d-link NIC is going down for the count? cr8tive Posted May 8, 2008 Author CID Share Posted May 8, 2008 Here is the ping. From these results can anyone tell if it's a config problem or a D-Link/Nic failing? Or ? Does anyone have a link to a tute with screen shots for setting up a DSL network? I use my laptop with this router.
