fire_rainbow Posted February 23, 2005 CID Share Posted February 23, 2005 Well hi everyone i come here to expose my little problem, i have a 2048/128 which as you can see is kind of absurd because of that little upload capacity, now the problem is that i don't get 90% of the download and upload speed that the isp say i have.in reality i'm suppost to have 640/128 but i'm on a pilot zone which gives me that 2048 speed. I'm portuguese, and here we don't have that enormous amount of speed as you, unless we pay about 80 euros or ~80$. i have xp SP2 with the p2p fix i don't have any kind of bad awre, already made the cleaning i would also like to mention that everytime i tried to change that internet settings, allways had a decreasing speed so right now i have the defalt settings my isp is netcabo.pt i also would like to say that in torrents dowload i have never reached more than 14 kb constant, which i think is very low for my connection, sorry for the bla bla but could you give me a hand, and also(sorry) that my connection at night doesnt go more than 700 kb of download. ::.. VanBuren Posted February 23, 2005 CID Share Posted February 23, 2005 use this file that i attach unzip it to C:ProgramCablenut open cablenut, in top left corener click file, load custom settings file browse to C:ProgramCablenut and dubbleclick on the file you unzipped now click save to registry and reboot if your using a router, force your Ethernetcard (NIC) to 100 Mbps full duplex, if your connecting direct to modem set it to 10 Mbps half duplex also always use 2992KB download test and 1496 KB test upstream VanBuren
fire_rainbow Posted February 23, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 23, 2005 I have done just that with the cablenut and it gives me this resuults, i also tried lots of others costum files and it cuts by half the speed i had without the twick program(cablenut). Also i would like to say that i dont have router and also a ethernet card, its connected thru the usb, so i would like, if possible, to keep on resolving this problem even thou i have the cable modem connected thru the usb. :::.. VanBuren Posted February 23, 2005 CID Share Posted February 23, 2005 USB slow down alot, i suggest you buy a ethernetcard and connect your modem over ethernet instead open cablenut, click delete cablenut tweaks and click save to registy and reboot, now your back to windows default settings Post again when you have a ethernet connection to modem and we can try to tweak it again VanBuren

VanBuren Posted February 24, 2005 CID Share Posted February 24, 2005 this time a day its hevy traffic and the planet (testmy.net datacenter) have routing issues i suggest you keep these settings and try speed when its less traffic, unless you know that you will get same score as before with default settings. VanBuren
fire_rainbow Posted February 24, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 24, 2005 You said it could be because of the traffic so i tested in a portuguese site with default and with the SP1 1500 custom files. i think its clear that the cablenut tweaking doesnt work that well on my connection. dont worry cause this site has a simple interface and doesnt have the traffic problem since in portugal we are only half a million with broadband, and i dont think they're testing their connection, so i can asure you that its trustable(sorry didnt find a better word to describe it). With 1500 file: http://adsl.vianetworks.pt/bmeter/results.php?kbps=648.9&downloadtime=7.062&KB=559.375&recorded=1 With default settings: http://adsl.vianetworks.pt/bmeter/results.php?kbps=957.7&downloadtime=7.89&KB=922.375&recorded=1 Also i seem to find my default settings , but i just dont have a clue hows possible to reach that 90% of the speed that i pay for. VanBuren Posted February 24, 2005 CID Share Posted February 24, 2005 try this open cablenut, Defaut windows value for TcpWindowsize and GlobalMaxTcpWindowsize is 17520 increase that value in steps of 1460 so next value to test is 17520+1460 =18980 and the next 18980 +1460 = 20440 and so on, until your speed drops, then go back one step VanBuren
fire_rainbow Posted February 24, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 24, 2005 LOL, this just keeps on getting better , i just dont know why doesnt anything work, maybe its because my isp isnt very good, well what can i do more to try to reach that 90% barrier, which for seems impossible, well here it is the result after the first add 17520+1460 =18980, 18980 thats what i've put and it gave me this: http://adsl.vianetworks.pt/bmeter/results.php?kbps=460.3&downloadtime=10.156&KB=570.625&recorded=1 LOL, i just hope we'll find a way! cholla Posted February 24, 2005 CID Share Posted February 24, 2005 Hi fire_rainbow : Your URL link to http://adsl.vianetworks.pt/bmeter/results.php?Kbps=1851.7&downloadtime=10.032&KB=2267.625&recorded=1 doesn't give your test results. It only shows the speed as 000Kbps.If you want to show the results you might try to copy & paste them. I tested my system at the site .Kind of interesting since I don't speak or read portugese.I managed to do the test though. Cholla If anyone wants to do the test click on Testar novamente at the test site. Where is the test site fire_rainbow ? This is what the copy & paste looks like Teste de largura de banda O teste de largura de banda deu: 43.80Kbps o que significa que fez um download a 5.48 KBytes/seg dos nossos servidores. 43.8 Kbps SUA LIGA

fire_rainbow Posted February 24, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 24, 2005 I would like to know if its possible for me to get near 90% at night, cause i dont think only in the morning counts, at night maximum 900 kb, and i have 2048 so i think not even with cablenut i can get even close, at night, to 1.3mb. could you explain better what you want me to do tomorrow because i didnt understand it very well sorry for bothering you, but i think the tests chould be done now because its the worst hour where i get bad results, not because of the traffic in the test sites but because of the netcabo users come from work and start to do their downloads. This happens because we have in portugal download limits, in my case i have 20gb to download national stuff and only 1gb for internacional, and at night it gets worse, the speed , because we have what we call happy hours in which we can make any download from any place in the world for free and it starts at 1:00Am and ends at 7:00Am. I'm saying this because i make more downloads at night which is the moment of the day that i would like to have good speed download . shouldnt i try any other things like full duplex, 100 instead of 10, stuff like that because it seems that it doesnt get any better than with the default settings. Sorry to bother you but could you give a hand , if possible now because its allready night here remenber. ok see ya guys, i'm going to bed just in 7 hours so if you want me to tests i'll do them cause i'm really looking forward to make this connection , at least a little better an also mention that my azureus doesnt go more than 16 kb constant. VanBuren Posted February 24, 2005 CID Share Posted February 24, 2005 try this open cablenut, Defaut windows value for TcpWindowsize and GlobalMaxTcpWindowsize is 17520 increase that value in steps of 1460 so next value to test is 17520+1460 =18980 and the next 18980 +1460 = 20440 and so on, until your speed drops, then go back one step VanBuren do this tomorrow morning, both TcpWindowsize and GlobalMaxTcpWindowsize must have same value, increase it in steps of 1460 VanBuren
fire_rainbow Posted February 24, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 24, 2005 just to say that i really dont know to make sure if that works better or default works better because, for example i test in this site and it gives me 1600 kb with default settings, then i try it with the rcp... with some value and it gives me 1300 kb, and then i try then both again and they give like completly differrent results, imagine that default gives me 1380 kb and with the altered rcp gives me now 1570 for example how do i analyze this, which one is better default or altered rcp..., that is one of my main problems cause i seem to get different results each time i run a test, only upload seems to be almost allways constant , generally 114 kb , so i would like, if possible for you to explain which one would you choose as better cause i really dont now how you do that cause i think that had to pass thru this to configure your speed connection which is way more fast then mine by the way, I hope you can awnser me this one well, ok thanks for your time. VanBuren Posted February 24, 2005 CID Share Posted February 24, 2005 you have a long way to this server, this server is located in Texas US, you wont get same result over and over again when traffic is high your scores will change even more we know what you get with default settings, and you came here for help to speed it up, so follow my suggestions or leave it as default..
