VanBuren Posted March 2, 2005 CID Share Posted March 2, 2005 hey marauder do you have a option in your routersetup, where you can set MTU? if so change it to 1492 VanBuren
marauder Posted March 2, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 2, 2005 nope i've tried everything to get it back to 1492, i don't understand why it changed just by moving, i'm lost, lol
VanBuren Posted March 2, 2005 CID Share Posted March 2, 2005 with win XP, PPPoE and no router its normal to get 1480 as MTU, its a bug in XP but when using a router, you should be able to get 1492 call your ISP and ask VanBuren
marauder Posted March 2, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 2, 2005 ok my ready service date is not til monday the 7th, but i noticed yesterday it's working, should i wait til monday so see if it self corrects? maybe they are still runnin line tests and stuff
marauder Posted March 2, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 2, 2005 someone also told me to try this If your PPOE is Enternet software then the tweaks will not work go into your registry, and after backing up the registry go into HOTKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesClassNet0002 under 0002 there is an entry for MaxFrameSize "1454" change this number to "1492" reboot and the recheck at Speedguides analyzer, if your pages wont load then drop this number by 2 at a time, but 1492 works perfect on mine Leave the othert tweeks in place if you dont have any trouble but i have no class folder! marauder Posted March 2, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 2, 2005 what if i just toss the router? anyway to get it back up to the speed i was or close to?
VanBuren Posted March 2, 2005 CID Share Posted March 2, 2005 if you toss your router your MTU will also be 1480, unless you use that fix from the link i posted in my previous post VanBuren
marauder Posted March 2, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 2, 2005 i used the fix, still only getting 13x faster, without the router

VanBuren Posted March 2, 2005 CID Share Posted March 2, 2005 is that test without router? open cablenut, click delete cablenut tweaks and click save to registry now download and open Dr.Tcp http://www.dslreports.com/front/DRTCP021.exe make sure all is set to default, and all fileds MUST be blank, if you see a value, use delete key and erase them, scroll and erase every MTU value you see for all network adapters now click apply and reboot, connect your router and make a new tweaktest VanBuren
