ice Posted April 20, 2004 CID Share Posted April 20, 2004 That isn't your RWIN, that is your MTU. Why do you want anything more? Those are awesome speeds. Not to mention I need much more information to tweak you.
bdodom Posted April 20, 2004 Author CID Share Posted April 20, 2004 Yes, you are correct. I meant MTU. Comcast is rolling out a faster broadband for workplace soon. We will see..... So, back to the tweaks, They probally won't do much more than this correct? Thanks!
ice Posted April 21, 2004 CID Share Posted April 21, 2004 Probably not. Depending on how you connect, whether it's normal, pppoA, or something else, you may need the MTU at 1492. If it's a normal connection, you should set it at 1500 though.
reddog00 Posted April 22, 2004 CID Share Posted April 22, 2004 Doubt you would even notice any change if your MTU went from 1492 to 1500. I was originally using WinXP's PPOE client which was set at 1480. My MTU is now at 1492 because of my router. I do not see any noticeable difference at all. And my MTU difference is bigger than your would be so I would not even mess with what ya got. Seems to be going fine from where I am sitting
MICROWAVE Posted April 22, 2004 CID Share Posted April 22, 2004 Yeah changing MTU by that amount wouldnt make any difference.......It is size of each packet sent only,if transfer gets to slow then I would maybe look at this .....but 1500 is "normal size" for broadband, and thats where I have mine set:) Keep visiting and tell your friends not only is this site the best for testing your speed but.........lots of good info from many people......
