madonnell Posted January 18, 2013 CID Share Posted January 18, 2013 Anyone out there use clearwire 4G, especially starting in the 2012 timeframe or later? (I understand they were horrid before then, but made a pretty major change of course around then). Throughput / quality comments? abrado
TSilent Posted August 23, 2013 CID Share Posted August 23, 2013 Clear is HORRID for me and has been ever since I started using it in early 2011. The only reason I've stayed with them is because I was with a roommate temporarily and didn't want to have to pay for something installed (Comcast) just to move and do it again. Since then I've moved but stayed with them as I'm awaiting Google Fiber (soooooon ...) but it has been torture. There are very few times that my speed is higher than 300 kbps and I'm maybe a mile and a half from a tower. It's been a complete nightmare. Using the series M modem. madonnell Posted August 24, 2013 Author CID Share Posted August 24, 2013 Thanks for the reply. I've been using Clear this year, with, I'll say, mixed results. I got it because my only other option was dsl, and my phone lines suck badly. I typically get 2-4 MB download and 300-1000 KB upload, most of the time. Can stream netflix medium quality, but if the weather is bad, the tower is busy, or I try to do anything else on the network, it will have to pause/resync. Slightly better overall than my sad old DSL. But my cell phone will do 4-5x better.
