php Posted March 16, 2005 CID Share Posted March 16, 2005 welcome to the forum did you reboot your computer after applying the tweaks? also, do you have a firewall?
Kyser Sose Posted March 16, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 16, 2005 Thanks for the response. Affirmative to the reboot(s). I've got McAfee Firewall and previous test with the firewall disabled didn't seem to yield any better results.
php Posted March 16, 2005 CID Share Posted March 16, 2005 try this: open the start menu, click on run. Type in cmd, and press enter. Type ping -f -l 1500 and make the number as big as possible without it saying Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set. open DrTCP and enter that number as your mtu, save, reboot your computer, and try the download test again

Kyser Sose Posted March 17, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 17, 2005 I was afraid that might be the case with this modem. I guess the good/bad thing is I bought the modem a few years ago on sale so I can't trade it in but I can buy a replacement. By now I've more than broken even by buying the modem versus what I would have paid in modem rental fees to Cox. Right now D-Link has a $20 rebate for the DCM-202 so it might be time for another upgrade.
