Lordoftheweb Posted March 23, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 23, 2005 I use wired (high speed internet through my telephone line). I am not sure exactly the advertised upload/download speed. Where do I find this? I ran some kind of ping test found in the sticky at the top of this forum, but wasnt sure if I should post it. i have cable nut installed. I use a program called tweaknowregcleaner. Thank you for the welcome by the way.
Lordoftheweb Posted March 23, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 23, 2005 I have run the avg, spybot, ad aware, ccleaner, defragged and diskcleaner before posting. And my windows is updated. Just a side note.
php Posted March 23, 2005 CID Share Posted March 23, 2005 your advertised speed should be on your bill...how much do you pay per month? download the attached file, open the download shortcut (click open if a dialogue pops up), then run autocheck.bat, cancel the download, and paste the results here

Lordoftheweb Posted March 23, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 23, 2005 The shortcut that was there, was for Norton Firewall. Is that correct? I use Zonealarm right now, but I read on this forum that sygate is better. Is Sygate free? Thanks.
php Posted March 23, 2005 CID Share Posted March 23, 2005 you dont have to actually download the whole file, its just to put a load on your connection while the test is run. i use zonealarm and think its better, but thats just my opinion... Lordoftheweb Posted March 23, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 23, 2005 so i should run the norton firewall and then run the test?
php Posted March 23, 2005 CID Share Posted March 23, 2005 no, you dont have to do anything with norton... open the attached cablenut file, apply the settings, reboot, and test again
