duffman1234 Posted March 30, 2005 CID Share Posted March 30, 2005 hey, is it normal to almost 900 kpbs at peak hours. my advertised speed is 3000kpbs download i get 1.5 sumtimes and 1000 kpbs most of the time. does anybody know a good value for the RWIN or tcp optimizer, i got cablenut on the 3000/384 which is my advertised speed. Does this always happen at peek hours? If yes, is it this bad?? Thanks alot :::.. peepnklown Posted March 30, 2005 CID Share Posted March 30, 2005 I would do a couple of things if not done already. I would tweak your windows settings. https://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php I would also tweak SP2 if you installed and running Windows XP https://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497 This tweak test should help you with the RWIN value http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks
REH Posted March 30, 2005 CID Share Posted March 30, 2005 Another thing, I would definitely find out what else is running on your PC that could be using your connection, (Spyware) Use Ad-Aware for that. You should also do a Virus check, and run Hi-Jack This. -REH
duffman1234 Posted March 30, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 30, 2005 hey i did the tweak test and i changed my rwin to 384000 http://ttester.broadbandreports.com/tweak/block:37d7396?service=cable&speed=3000&os=winXP&via=normal when i changed it, it still says that. what should i do
duffman1234 Posted April 1, 2005 Author CID Share Posted April 1, 2005 i wanna have the perfect rwin and cable nut settings please how do i make it perfect?
Guest helloimtim Posted April 1, 2005 CID Share Posted April 1, 2005 Your connection will really never be perfect. Dont drive yourself crazy trying to achive it. Try to reach that 90 percent of your advertised speed and let it go. With cable, the number of users on your same cable line can affect speed. While tweaking can help it can also hurt and make things worse. A good general rule of thumb I believe is to first check for virus and spyware. Reboot your cable modum by unplugging it and shutting down your computer. Wait a min or two. Plug in your modum wait another min or 2 then turn on your computer. Works well with my dsl. In my humble oppinion I would use tweaking as a last resort. Check everything else first or tweaking will do nothing for you and or make it worse. Just my 2 cents. duffman1234 Posted April 1, 2005 Author CID Share Posted April 1, 2005 thanks i already have checked all that, so u think no cablenut settings for me, or no rwin? sumtimes when i put those it increases the host average
duffman1234 Posted April 1, 2005 Author CID Share Posted April 1, 2005 is this a good rwin? 3000 x maximum latency which is 35/8=13125 13125/1460=8.9 round to the next even number (10) 10x1460=14600 is this correct or should i put any other rwin or cablenut settings?
