DigitalBoost Posted April 16, 2005 CID Share Posted April 16, 2005 Just a reminder If your not getting a good speed and/or if your speed fluctuates by more than 2mbps then it might be due to one of your anti-virus programs. With McAfee anti-virus enabled my speed was between 5 and 8mbps. With Mcafee disabled I got a constant 15 mbps.
KingCobra Posted April 16, 2005 CID Share Posted April 16, 2005 Did this fix your networks both upstairs and down?
DigitalBoost Posted April 17, 2005 Author CID Share Posted April 17, 2005 No, I've had McAffe disabled. I'm going to try to switch out the D-link with the Linksys, and see if that does anything. I'll post the results.

bwt1953 Posted April 17, 2005 CID Share Posted April 17, 2005 mcafee is krap...get avast or something smaller that doesnt hog the memory as much Your're right disturbed , it is crap, very bloated piece of trash. With every update they load more and more code onto the machine, without cleaning out the old stuff.. I too see a substantial decrease in download speed with it on.
