skribble Posted June 6, 2005 CID Share Posted June 6, 2005 Hey guys, new to site and wanted to see if u guys could help me. I did all the steps in the sticky post (btw when i ran the cablenut app, it increased my download by 10% and i notice a big difference in surfing webpages!), and i still need a little bit of guidance. here are my results... :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 1429 Kbps about 1.4 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 174 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Mon Jun 6 14:01:49 EDT 2005 Bottom Line:: 26X faster than 56K 1MB download in 5.89 sec Diagnosis: Looks Great : 13.59 % faster than the average for host (tds.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-53SOHV4RL :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 197 Kbps about 0.2 Mbps (tested with 97 kB) Upload Speed is:: 24 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Mon Jun 6 14:02:48 EDT 2005 Bottom Line:: 4X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 42.67 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 71.38 % of your hosts average (tds.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-SRNWGOL52 My question is, apparently, my upload speed. I ping like 100+ to east servers for q3 and such. Not great at all =(. Any help would be appreciated, THANKS!!!!
FallowEarth Posted June 6, 2005 CID Share Posted June 6, 2005 Hey skribble, Unfortunately, you'll probably find that tweaking out your upload speed to the max will be a bit harder than with your down speed, as most upload speeds are not guaranteed by the ISP. Some here might be able to help if you provide a bit more info: operating system, cablenut settings, type of modem, on a router?, stuff like that. Also, what are your advertised down/up speeds? Further, try a trace route: -from the command prompt, type: tracert testmy.net ...and some pings: -from the command prompt, type: ping -n 50 testmy.net Post your results here (try not to include your own IP address, or your name from the command line)and we'll see what we can do for you. Ok, good luck.

VanBuren Posted June 6, 2005 CID Share Posted June 6, 2005 hey skribble and welcome to the forum here is the problem 1 2 ms 1 ms 1 ms dslmodem.domain.actdsltmp [192.168.0.1] 2 57 ms 41 ms 41 ms nlsngabas01-lo0-secondary1.network.tds.net [69.2.1.136.1] your ISP using Interleave error correction, that adds a latency to your gateway of 30 ms + in your case 40 ms call your ISP and ask them if they can disable interleaved mode and switch you to fastpath let them check your modemsignals, if they are fine it should not be a problem VanBuren
