Van Buren I need your help

Recommended Posts

I am using the new version of tcp optimizer.  I use a router to connect to the web and I only test between 4.5-5.0 download speed when my speed package with comcast is 6/768.  I know if anyone could help me it is you because you helped me tweak on my last pc.  Please help me get it as close to 6.0 as possible.  Please help me with upload too.  I am using windows xp.  Here are my stats now:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 4273 Kbps about 4.3 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)

Download Speed is:: 522 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2)

Test Time:: Tue Jun 07 2005 09:37:50 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Time)

Bottom Line:: 76X faster than 56K 1MB download in 1.96 sec

Diagnosis: Looks Great : 18.69 % faster than the average for host (comcast.net)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-1DUSY6B2Q

:::.. Upload Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 733 Kbps about 0.7 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)

Upload Speed is:: 90 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server1)

Test Time:: Tue Jun 07 2005 09:38:56 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Time)

Bottom Line:: 13X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 11.38 sec

Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 113.08 % faster than the average for host (comcast.net)

TCP options string = 020405b40103030001010402

MTU = 1500

MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460

Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 64240

RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits

Unscaled Receive Window = 64240

RWIN is a multiple of MSS

Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:

513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)

256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)

128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2569.6 kbps (321.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1027.84 kbps (128.48 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 49 hops

TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

destructionfever : Van can help you more than I can  but from the speed guide test results your RWIN is too small..You need to enable window scaling & use a larger RWIN.If you don't enable scaling I think your RWIN will automatically be limited to 65535 no matter how high you set it.I'm not sure XP is limited this way  someone can post if that isn't correct.

Use Cablenut to enable scaling & set RWIN larger .Try the 128480 suggested by the test.

hey destructionfever :)

well you need to choose, if your going to use TCP optimizer or Cablenut, if you mix them, the speed can suffer

try this first

open cablenut, click delete cablenut tweaks and click save to registry

now open TCP optimizer, set connection speed to 6000 and click Optimal settings now click apply and reboot your PC

try speed again

Thanks for your help guys.  I think I'll just use cablenut because here are my stats doing it the way you said.  Let me know every nook and cranny of setup for cablenut program.  Plus, can you figure out my rwin and all that jive and then tell me how to fix it.  Thankyou.:::.. Download Stats ..:::

ok test these files

open TCP Optimizer, click file, restore windows default settings, clik ok and do not reboot

now click on one of the attached files and click save to registry and reboot

test speed, now test the other file, just click on it and click save to registry and reboot again

test speed again and compare

destructionfever:  Looks like Van is offline .I don't use TCP optimizer just Cablenut some people say they conflict with each other .And just to use one or the other.

Looks like it slowed you down I would just go back to what you had with the faster test before you used the optimizer .I think your RWIN is now correct from the test you sent me,

Cablenut should have a file for your OS & connection type.

Thankyou all for your help.  I may need to check into other settings.  :)

huh?

what settings?

what speed did you get on the mirrors?

it might be a problem on the route, then no tweaks will give you your capped speed..

make a linequalitytest at www.dslreports.com also make a pathping

start-run-cmd

pathping testmy.net

Download Speed is:: 255 kB/s

Tested From:: http://www.bafserv.com
