pacmantravis Posted July 15, 2005 CID Share Posted July 15, 2005 Im on my GF's computer right now, and she has SBC Yahoo DSL. It's DSL Pro (3/768). Ive tried CableNuts, TCP Optimizer and several other reg tweak programs and this is the fastest I can get: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 2538 Kbps about 2.5 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 310 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server1) Test Time:: Thu Jul 14 2005 20:25:06 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time) Bottom Line:: 45X faster than 56K 1MB download in 3.3 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 47.73 % faster than the average for host (pacbell.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-FJ62QSLCN :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 442 Kbps about 0.4 Mbps (tested with 579 kB) Upload Speed is:: 54 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server1) Test Time:: Thu Jul 14 2005 20:25:30 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time) Bottom Line:: 8X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 18.96 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 82.64 % faster than the average for host (pacbell.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-F641BVZIQ I know that line distance has a lot to do with speeds but according to broadband reports (i know, its not that accurate) she's not even a mile away. Any advice or suggestions? I know its "close" to the limits, but Im just trying to get her as much as I can. Thanks.
Guest helloimtim Posted July 15, 2005 CID Share Posted July 15, 2005 Thats pretty sweat. I would leave it be. Messing with it could make it worse. Just my 2 cents.
gotmilk Posted July 16, 2005 CID Share Posted July 16, 2005 It's 3/512, not 3/768, so don't expect to get much more on the upload. The download looks pretty good too.
pacmantravis Posted July 16, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 16, 2005 Ah, I thought it was 768. Well, its better than paying twice as much to go just as fast w/Adelphia.
Tarmgar Posted July 16, 2005 CID Share Posted July 16, 2005 If you're over the average, be happy
pacmantravis Posted July 18, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 18, 2005 Well, she's paying for DSL Pro, which I assume the "average" customer doesnt have. I was just making sure that 2.5dn on a 3dn plan was a decent speed.
