So long, Longhorn: Software giant Microsoft is dropping the long-used code name for the new version of its ubiquitous Windows operating system, officially going with the moniker Windows Vista. The Redmond, Wash., company will release a test version of the software to developers and information technology professionals Aug. 3, with plans for it to hit store shelves next year. Windows Vista includes a new three 3-D look for viewing data and search feature to look for documents, photos or music across the hard drive, Internet sites, e-mail and other PCs, according to news reports. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/default.mspx
