I am a noobie to broadband so please do not flame me.

I heard about people "Uncapping" their cable broadband speed to get faster speed and I have learned that this is illegal.

Using Cablenut to tweak the registry to increase speed,is that "Uncapping".

Thank you.I wanted to find out before I use it.

All Cablenut does it provide you a graphical easy to use interface into the Windows settings to change options, buffer sizes, etc.  There is nothing wrong with doing that.

The cablenut program is free, but they will gladly accept donations.  See http://www.cablenut.com for more info.

Welcome to the forums, emperorplucky

As HaloBox said, Cablenut only changes certain Windows settings for better performance.

Uncapping, would be hacking into your modem, and changing settings on a certain file. Even if you own your modem, it would still be illegal.

So, tweak your computer as much as you want! :)
