can't quite get 90%

Hey everyone! This is my first post, so I'll try to include everything you'll need. I just got DSL about a week and a half ago. My ISP is SBCYahoo and I got the 1.5 down. package. I'm running windows xp with service pack 1. I may download service pack 2, but why fix something if it isn't broke. Anyways, I installed vanburen's cablenut settings for my setup. I've ran quite a few tests and the best I can seem to get is 85%. Any thoughts on what the problem might be?

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 1318 Kbps about 1.3 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)

Download Speed is:: 161 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server1)

Test Time:: Wed Aug 10 01:25:40 EDT 2005

Bottom Line:: 24X faster than 56K 1MB download in 6.36 sec

Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 85.42 % of your hosts average (ameritech.net)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-HT4ONAQER

:::.. Upload Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 309 Kbps about 0.3 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)

Upload Speed is:: 38 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2)

Test Time:: Wed Aug 10 01:42:31 EDT 2005

Bottom Line:: 6X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 26.95 sec

Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 24.1 % faster than the average for host (ameritech.net)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-H7QFXBZCL

As you can see, the upload speeds are fine, it's the download speeds that aren't measuring up. Any ideas?

1. Your Tweakable Settings:

hey ohiobigdog and welcoem to the forum :)

you can try to finetune the TcpWindowSize and GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize

but first try both the DSL PPPoE 1000 384.ccs and DSL PPPoE 1500 384

in

VanBurens_cablenut_settings_version_7_ALL_WIN_OS_AND_SATCABLE_DSL_FIBER_DIAL-UPWinXP_2K_CABLE_DSLMSS1452

i can see your MTU is 1492 and thats optimal, so try the folder in path above with MSS 1452

i can see your using the tweak from MSS 1440 now.

good luck

VanBuren :)

Don't worry about you percentage of your host's average speeds, it's 90% of your advertised speed you want to get.

90% of your advertised speed would be 1350 Kbps download and 346 Kbps upload.  Don't worry about it though, from what I've seen, it's hard to get to 90% of your advertised speeds with SBC unless you're right next to the station.
