Obscene Truth Posted August 18, 2005 CID Share Posted August 18, 2005 Well, my master plan didn't work out like I thought it would. http://img214.imageshack.us/my.php?image=homenetworksetup0ka.png Here I have the modem connecting to the first router/switch, and then the second router/switch connecting to the first. I figured that the setup wizards would work and the first router would act as the modem for the second, but I was wrong. Do I need a patch cable or something, or do I need to manually configure the routers? Thanks
Swimmer Posted August 18, 2005 CID Share Posted August 18, 2005 you are going to have to subnet the devices.. if you are just looking for more ports for wire clients just plug the cable from the first router to the second router.. not the WAN port! that is why your setup if failing.. http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-7014.0 that is what i was trying to do earlier.. I have found that Dlink gear will let you do what you are trying to do.. however, Netgear and linksys have a harder time..
