destructionfever Posted August 27, 2005 CID Share Posted August 27, 2005 I have the comcast 8000/768 package. I'm currently up to date with spybot, ad aware, and avast antivirus. I also use ccleaner for my pc. I still have speeds that bounce up and down all day everyday. I did a ping test to yahoo.com and it came out to be 82 ms. I have an average ping of about 52 ms when I pinged multiple sites. I am gonna post the traceroute from my pc to testmy.net. Maybe one of you could be so helpful as to make a cablenut file that gets me 90% of my advertised speed. It would be greatly appreciated. All I ask is that you set it up to have some browser speed as well. As always, I appreciate all you do for me. Here is that traceroute. traceroute to www.testmy.net (67.18.179.85), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 * * * Request timed out. 2 68.86.101.9 (68.86.101.9) 7.942 ms 11.646 ms 8.492 ms 3 68.86.100.85 (68.86.100.85) 9.875 ms 10.371 ms 8.645 ms 4 12.118.114.21 (12.118.114.21) 18.211 ms 21.407 ms 34.571 ms 5 tbr2-p012301.phlpa.ip.att.net (12.123.137.66) 53.579 ms 51.452 ms 52.950 ms 6 tbr1-cl9.wswdc.ip.att.net (12.122.2.85) 52.602 ms 53.301 ms 54.081 ms 7 tbr1-cl4.sl9mo.ip.att.net (12.122.10.30) 52.705 ms 53.374 ms 53.716 ms 8 tbr2-cl6.dlstx.ip.att.net (12.122.10.90) 52.790 ms 52.965 ms 53.575 ms 9 12.122.82.45 (12.122.82.45) 52.773 ms 53.921 ms 53.048 ms 10 12.119.136.14 (12.119.136.14) 52.986 ms 53.462 ms 55.225 ms 11 dist-vlan31.dsr3-2.dllstx3.theplanet.com (70.85.127.30) 162.086 ms dist-vlan31.dsr3-1.dllstx3.theplanet.com (70.85.127.29) 237.699 ms dist-vlan31.dsr3-2.dllstx3.theplanet.com (70.85.127.30) 50.803 ms 12 dist-vlan-42.dsr2-2.dllstx4.theplanet.com (70.85.127.91) 53.321 ms dist-vlan41.dsr2-1.dllstx4.theplanet.com (70.85.127.83) 51.877 ms dist-vlan-42.dsr2-2.dllstx4.theplanet.com (70.85.127.91) 53.806 ms 13 gig1-0-2.tp-car9-1.dllstx4.theplanet.com (67.18.116.85) 52.440 ms 53.145 ms gig1-0-1.tp-car9-1.dllstx4.theplanet.com (67.18.116.69) 53.170 ms 14 85.67-18-179.reverse.theplanet.com (67.18.179.85) 52.800 ms 52.427 ms 53.896 ms Trace complete

netmasta Posted August 27, 2005 CID Share Posted August 27, 2005 Are you using a router? Because your first hop should not time out. If you are, try directly connecting your computer to your modem.
