Dark_Templar Posted September 9, 2005 CID Share Posted September 9, 2005 Hello. I am having some technical difficulties here. I am using Comcast right now and for the past couple weeks, my download speed was pretty decent, until a couple days ago when I tried to download something on BitTorrent, it went at "dial-up" speeds. I know this has something to do with my firewall(s). The torrent file that I got is the one with lots of seeders and the health is at green (full). Normally it would go way faster than this, like around 50 kb/s - 100 kb/s, even with my firewall(s) up, but lately it's been going at around 5 kb/s - 10 kb/s. By the way, I tested my connection on this site and it was saying that I am going at around 40% of my host's speed. Here are the stats... :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 1778 Kbps about 1.8 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 217 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Thu Sep 08 2005 19:49:28 GMT-0700 (Pacific Standard Time) Bottom Line:: 32X faster than 56K 1MB download in 4.72 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 41.87 % of your hosts average (comcast.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-K3MJBT8IV Do you know of any ways that I could get my connection to go faster? To say the truth, I am kind of afraid of turning off my firewall(s) because of my wireless network (it isn't encrypted); I got it encrypted but I couldn't access it from my laptop so I decided to turn off my encryption.
