peepnklown Posted October 3, 2005 CID Share Posted October 3, 2005 I believe the ISP has to support it.

cholla Posted October 5, 2005 CID Share Posted October 5, 2005 helloimtim : I didn't find a lot of information more than was already posted.I did find out a couple of things though. If you let your ISP do the bonding (shotguning) at their server then they (at least some) charge you for each hour the second line is used.So you want to do the kind where you have 2 seperate accounts for dialup with the ISP & do the bonding with your PC.The ISP still has to support this but you are charged for the 2 accounts at the normal monthly cost.Heres another link with some info: http://www.tribuneindia.com/2001/20010101/login/main1.htm

As always great help. Thank you to the rest as well. My father in law has had me trying to tweak his computer as well as his connection. Not knowing much about dial up I have learned tons. What it boils down to is simply you need to seperate accounts and helps if you have 2 phone lines. I have just recently learned all this. Did find a neat little program from inkline. They make pc booster. Well they make a modum booster as well and it really helped his speeds alot. Got it to jump from 30 to 36 kbps useing that booster. IT runs a bunch of tests then sets the settings to the best. Now just gonna change his phone line out. Goona run strait from the phone box to the puter useing some cat 5. I am pretty sure all the phone line he usese and as far as it has to travel that has got to put some slowdown in his speeds.
resopalrabotnick Posted October 6, 2005 CID Share Posted October 6, 2005 Running xp. Want to shotgun 2 56k on dial up. I think you used to be able to do it on win 98. Any ideas? maybe inquire if the local telco offers isdn. would give you a steady 64k on one channel, 128 if you combine them. and isdn is actually set up for that, so as long as the isp and telco support it, you won't need 2 accounts.that way he can surf at 64k having one line open for voice then connect at 128k for larger downloads.
