resopalrabotnick Posted October 10, 2005 CID Share Posted October 10, 2005 just slap a router on the sucker and hook up as many comps as you like. well, not really as many as you want, but as many as are useful anyway. router takes the one ethernet port from the modem and then distributes it to several connected comps. as a bonus you will normally get a firewall in the router and a wireless access point. cost around 35 to 50 bucks, more or less. netmasta Posted October 10, 2005 CID Share Posted October 10, 2005 Welcome to the site, bkd210 resopalrabotnick, is correct. With a router, you can have your own LAN with x number of computers, all connecting through one connection. Not to mention, it's cheaper than paying for a seperate IP for each computer. bkd210 Posted October 11, 2005 Author CID Share Posted October 11, 2005 Thanks netmasta, You guys really know what you are talking about. Also is there anything I can do to make sure I avoid lag or any other problems (I plan on hooking a gaming console and high-speed internet up to the router)? Thanks again.
