milchama Posted January 26, 2006 CID Share Posted January 26, 2006 Long time guys but I have a similar problem with BF2 also running Spec Forces Exp. Pack. I have an Inspiron 9300 w/ 2.0 Pent. M - 2 gb of Ram - Nvidia 6800 256Mb - Intel 2915 WiFi. I have been playing BF2 with under 70 ping for a while but lately, the last week, I have been getting spike as high as 1000+ and getting booted for having an average of 300+. I just recently have just done a fresh install and installed BF2 again and I get the same results. I have all programs off namely Antivirus and even Firewall except win firewall. I called Mediacom Cable and they say everything is fine. These stats are from a WiFi connection. I have also tried direct connect thru the modem as well. I think this all started when I installed the Expansion pack could this be the problem? I am currently defragging the HDD and tomarrow will go to a friends to see I still have the same problem. :::.. Swimmer Posted January 26, 2006 CID Share Posted January 26, 2006 I saw a simular problem with a WRT54g on an Insight connection.. for some reason it would brick after about 30 days in use.. The pings would be like 2500+ms all the way through.. i direct connected the modem and the ping were normal.. 20-40ms.. I put dd-wrt firmware and the problem seems to have resolved.. I have yet to be called back to take a look at it again. The only problem is that the firmware voids the warrenty..
milchama Posted January 26, 2006 CID Share Posted January 26, 2006 yeah but I was having this problem on a Belkin router and just bought the Mimo Linksys router last night. I have also connected directly to the modem and same lousy ping. well, I figured this out on my own apparently PunkBuster was the problem and it was out of date. I had to download this really small file and update PB and wa-la lag issue fixed no more connection problem messages. This is where you go to get the update and instructions http://www.punkbuster.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php
