  1. I am on XP Professional, using AVG for virus, Ad-Aware for Spyware and Sygate Firewall. With those I have complete control and update them often.
  2. I would be wary of anything that Comcast offers. A few years back I downloaded some new software from Comcast (RollBack stuff for analysis). Sounded good but after two weeks I began to have serious OS problems (on Win 98SE then). Well I finally called tech support and got to a level II person. Yes there was a problem with the RollBack software, It was deleting .dll files from the Win folder. Comcast had so send a tech from a local computer service company to my home, do a low level format of my HD and reinstall all my software. Took the guy over 4 hours to completer the format, install and test. Oh yes he did not install the Comcast Software.
  3. Hi: Thanks, I made the changes to the Firefox Config file and the pages load much faster. The config file have nothing to do with my download speed, it's just to speed up the Browser Program. (Former designer of large scale applications on large mainframe computers) Thanks again.
  4. Thomson is the RCA Modem that Comcast offers. I picked mine up from the Comcast office. By the way I had connection problems for over one month. Seven service calls, three to the house and four to the Node and Pole outside. We sent a registered return receipt letter to Brian Robers in Philadelphia. After my issues were settled, I received a call from a manager in the Voohrees NJ office. We had a nice chat and he gave me his name and direct line in case I have problems in the future. I did have a Level II person helping me through all of this. I had his name and extension in the local office. He did a great job of helping me and and monitoring what was going on.
  5. I am on Comcast. 6mips, XP SP2, 1gb Memory, Thomson TCM 425 modem. Linksys WRT54GS Router. have been on Comcast for over 3 years, I was using my own SB4100 then did a switch. I do not use any of Comcast's Software on my PC. Got burned a few years ago when their rollback software was deleting .dll files. That was with another system using Win 98 SP2. Sygate Firewall, AVG Virus program on present system. I do a lot of uploads to the Comcast FTP server for my 5 web sites. Also I send a large Access file a few times a day to another office using PC Anywhere.
