  1. I got to say that does look very cheap

But it does have a very bad review in several sites mostly due to rebate which i dont have to deal with cause it is at a rebate price already

Also will I be able to use this later as a network drive?

if so will that really be wise? How many times can u write to it? Will it be slow to acces off a network or internet if i set up a vpn?

It's a normal hard drive; just in an external enclosure.

I imagine access time to it on a network would be the same as access time to the internal laptop drive, maybe a little slower but not much.

  2. When it isn't overloaded it is great.

    :::.. Download Stats ..:::

That drops to around 250 to 500 Kbps during prime time though.

And latency is also horrible when the neighborhood kids are at home.

  3. I did have the business class account with 2M / 500K but they had some problems with the line and I was only getting 1 M / 250K and downgraded my account to the residential service,

They changed the billing but 3 weeks after that they got the line problems fixed and I still have 2M / 500K for $40.00 less per month so I won't post the company name just in case...

  4. I was driving down the highway in the rain, and I hydroplaned and went sideways for a while, hit a street sign, and landed on an access road.  Thats about it lol.

Cameros have always been notoriously bad at traction on wet pavement.

  5. I've used Kingston HyperX RAM for years.

Never had any problems with it.

Isn't it amazing how cheap RAM is today compared to just 3 or 4 years ago?

4 gigs of Hyper X now for only $80.00 when I paid over $200.00 for one gig not that long ago.

  6. Installing the 3g equipment ( transmitters / receivers ) at the tower site and the antennas on the tower.

Still pretty expensive but AT^T claims they are going to have more than 300 cities covered with it by the end of this year.

I'll believe it when I see it though.

  7. If less people stole, the items would cost less for the rest of us..

Stores/companies charge more to cover theft.  So basically the people who buy items instead of stealing are paying for their own item and for a percentage of one that is stolen.

No they wouldn't. Items cost less, that is.

    It's all about greed.

Both on the seller's and the buyer's / pirate's side.

If there was no piracy company CEOs would be flying around in a different lear jet for each day of the week instead of owning just one and you would not see any lowering of prices.

Proof that there are many many people of low intelligence out there?

Norton anti-virus is on the list.

Why would anyone want their system running at a snail's pace?

  8. I don't know what mobo & BIOS version you have Blako.

Also, I'm not quite sure what you are asking.

But your 8600gt DOES begin sending a signal to the monitor during POST right after the BIOS tests it and determines that it is working properly.

It is at the factory default settings until the OS loads to the point where it can take over and change the settings to whatever you have them set at.

An interesting note about the OP's mobo: His Gigabyte mobo is "supposed" to be able to detect a PCIE video device and automatically disable the onboard video when that condition exists.

That may or may not work so it is a good idea to manually disable the built in video in the BIOS and be done with it since it only takes a few seconds to do.

  9. You don't need a Ferrari to go to the grocery store.

There are many cards priced at or below $100.00 that will work just fine for what you want to do with them and, more importantly, will not require you to buy a new power supply or mod your case in order to get them installed.

I made that mistake back when Oblivion IV came out.

My Radeon 600 pro ran the game but the framerates were low and no eye candy.

I bought into the hype and bought a Radeon X 1800 XT.

It barely fit in my case and when I got it installed my 400 watt PSU would not run it.

Another week of waiting and a new 550 watt supply latter I was finally running the game at max settings.

    What a huge disappointment.

Average framerates were nowhere close to what others with that card were claiming.

And the eye candy wasn't that impressive either.

And as for direct x 10; don't worry about it.

It's there if you need it but it will have 0 effect on the way the card performs with direct x 9.c under win xp pro.

You probably already know this but in case you don't:

Since your mobo has onboard video when you install a new card on the first boot you will have to go into the BIOS and disable the onboard video or the card will not be recognized.

  10. The FAP limit reduction isn't so bad, but their accounting of how much bandwidth you use is.

According to them I used 3.2 gigs down last month.

According to DU Meter I used 1.4 gigs.

And I can shut down my computer and leave it off for a few hours and then boot up and log in to their FAP meter and see it has pegged me for using 30 or 40 megs of bandwidth while the system was shut down.

WB will not admit that their metering software has a major problem.

A typical day for me is reading e-mail, a couple of hours playing yahoo games, reading and posting to a few message boards, and surfing a couple of news sites.

DU Meter shows me using about 20 to 30 megs per day.

Their fap meter shows me using more than 100 megs per day.

Installing a new mobo, new memory, and a new hard drive when I upgraded my cpu last month did not change the discreptency between what they say I use and what I actually do use, so that shoots down tech supports theory of a virus causing it.

One day last month I unplugged the modem for 17 hours and when I reconnected and checked their fap meter, it showed I had used bandwidth even with no power to the modem.
