  1. You can copy the entire content of a DVD and make a backup copy if you have a dual layer DVD burner. You cannot do this direct with copy protected commercial DVDs. To copy such, you'll need to rip the files from the DVD to your hard drive, then burn them to the blank dual layer DVD.

  2. bwt1953 : I never wore a leisure suit ,white belt or white shoes much less let anyone take my picture in them.

Yeah...  I have no doubt that they were outlawed in Texas.....and should have been everywhere else

  3. I volunteered to beat the draft. I had a lottery number or 16. I was assigned to Saigon right out of AIT, but those orders were rescinded while on leave. The US involvement in VN was winding down.

  4. Probably for upper class yuppies in Better Homes & Gardens magazine.Nothing like my parents house (I was only 17 in 1970).A couple of years later my first hippie pad sure looked a lot cooler man.

Your hippie pad!?....LOL  I didn't know any hippies that worshiped the DUKE.

  5. if he has a good hard drive mirroring program, winxp should run on the new drive after its copied

GO HERE: http://support.wdc.com/download/downloadxml.asp#1  download data lifeguard tools and use drive to drive copy. Here's what it does:

    Drive-To-Drive Copy

The Drive-To-Drive data copy utility will copy files from one drive partition to another or from one folder to another.  Drive-To-Drive copy will allow you to select a source and destination partition or folder for copying and will then copy all files from the source partition or folder into the destination partition or folder.  Existing files in the destination will be overwritten if there are files on the source with the same name.

When copying from partition to partition, if the destination partition is a primary partition, Drive-To-Drive copy will make the partition bootable.  This allows you to migrate your operating system to a new drive even if the drive was not partitioned using Data Lifeguard.

  6. You will need to set the router to automatic configuration and also clone your computer's NIC MAC address. Go to www.linksys.com and look at their FAQ. Do a search for "how do I set up a router with a dynamic IP address" and you will find all the info there

If your OS is XP, you can use their automatic configuration: http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1650&p_created=1092692694&p_sid=W9m-VyDh&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYnk9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfcm93X2NudD0xMTQyJnBfcHJvZHM9JnBfY2F0cz0mcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0mcF9wYWdlPTE*&p_li=&p_topview=1

  7. disturbed- this is something I posted a month ago. If you nered more help post again or PM me. The program TMPGEnc can be used to splice together all kinds of video files. Check out the link below...tons of info at that site. Hope this helps.

Copying the vts_xxx.vob files from a dvd and trying to burn them to your own dvd won't work. You need to rip those files from the dvd . The ripper will disable any copy protection and strip the region info. After ripping the dvd, you can then play those files from your hard drive with say something like PowerDVD or a similar program. PowerDVD or similar players will allow you to generate a playlist of the VOB files so that the movie plays continuously from VOB to VOB thru to the end.

To burn (backup) a movie to your own blank DVD you'll then need to process those files and convert to *.mpg. This can be a MPEG-1 (free) or (better quality) MPEG-2 ( the software upgrade/plugin for this cost a few bucks, not much...20 to 30 dollars. The MPEG-2 file will produce a superior copy. If you do it right, indistinquishable from the original DVD.

The three programs pitbull481 suggests is a good choice. Easy to use. But if you want to shoot for high quality mpeg-2, plus have control

  8. Is that run off a radio like mine? I have something similar that runs off of a 900 Mhz radio with power over ethernet. The radio is in the grey box.

    antenna5qf.th.jpg

Yeah, the last one I had was 900, but I think the tech told me this one is 2.4GHz. I now have line of sight open sky to the transmitter. So much better signal than before.

falco...who is your provider, and what's your location?

  9. that first test was with the adelphia 6000/768 tweaks, this is with all tweaks removed. I don't know what the cap is

  11. It seems there are allot of new features or threads opening here at testmy.net. That is good. But what has inspired these new threads? There used to be just plain help with internet help.

As this 'community' grows and more and more people visit, they can see that questions, even what they think may be stupid questions are answered. People are treated with respect and not treated like idiots because they don't know what the experts know. Many on line forums, not all, tend to get cliquish. That doesn't seem to be the case here.

It is a welcoming community, so people feel comfortable asking all kinds of questions. And because it is a welcoming community, people tend to spend time here.

    It's a good thing.

    .....just MY opinion
