  1. Question 1 Tweaking I tried this tweak and then reverted back to the original because it didn't seem to work for me. This is supposed to make web pages load faster but it doesn't seem to be the case when I applied it. I am back to the following as I write this... LocalPriority = 1f3 (499) - local names cache HostsPriority = 1f4 (500) - the HOSTS file DnsPriority = 7d0 (2000) - DNS NetbtPriority = 7d1 (2001) - NetBT name-resolution, including WINS https://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1130 Note the following lines (all hex dwords): Class = 008 ( - indicates that TCP/IP is a name service provider, don't change. LocalPriority = 1f3 (499) - local names cache HostsPriority = 1f4 (500) - the HOSTS file DnsPriority = 7d0 (2000) - DNS NetbtPriority = 7d1 (2001) - NetBT name-resolution, including WINS What we're aiming to do is increase the priority of the last 4 settings, while keeping their order. The valid range is from -32768 to +32767 and lower numbers mean higher priority compared to other services. What we're aiming at is lower numbers without going to extremes, something like what's shown below should work well: Change the "Priority" lines to: LocalPriority = 005 (5) - local names cache HostsPriority = 006 (6) - the HOSTS file DnsPriority = 007 (7) - DNS NetbtPriority = 008 ( - NetBT name-resolution, including WINS Question 2 Windows XP Bios Are there any tweaks that I should do regarding the BIOS? I use Windows XP SP2 512RAM Intel Pentium 4CPU 2.80GHz, Intel 82865G Graphics Controller. Appreciate the help!
  2. How is your package 8Mbps but get a score of 25Mbps?
  3. My package is OOL 15-2 for $29.95 (because I have triple play which include cablevision and voice service). I tend to get scores in the 12.5Mbps range here at Testmy.net.

  5. Cable, Any suggestions on what I can do to tweak my settings. I have done several tweaks but is there any way for me to increase my speed? On occasion I get scores here at Testmy.net that are normally in the 10-11Mbps range. On occasion I will also get scores in the 2-6Mbps range (see below): :::.. 7. ....without having to pay more.... Basically, there is an Optimum Boost but it is 9.95 more for me.
  8. Does OOL have anything like that?
  9. small file + boost?? What do you mean by boost?
  10. Tim, What are your advertised speeds? I could never get closer than 12.5Mbps on this site and my advertised speeds are 15-2.
  11. No I didn't. I have had it for about a year.
  12. I use OOL 15-2. All cookies/cache temp files cleared. WOW!

  14. I finally reached over 15Mbps download last week (see below) Total Tests Taken: 59 Fastest Download: 15128 kb/s Fastest Upload: 1864 kb/s Average Download: 12386 kb/s Average Upload: 1814 kb/s ...but since then my speeds have averaged in the 2 to 7Mbps range which has never happened to me since having OOL. I contacted their customer service and they told me that I was not capped. I contacted them again and another rep told me that my modem showed alot of download data and if I had a peer to peer program installed. I don't have any such program installed and the only download data I could imagine is when I perform the speedtests. Anyhow, here is my most recent ccs that I created today and now I am back in the 13 to 14Mbps range. I have the 15-2 package. Any way to tell if I have been capped? FYI. Rep. told me that it could be my modem and to exchange it at their store.
  15. Here is the link to the freeware program.... http://www.topshareware.com/TZ-Connection-Booster-Wizard-download-8547.htm Actually that is my speed after using Connection Booster.
  16. For the first I broke 15Mbps on my connection (OOL 15-2). I used this freeware program called Connection Booster. 17. Here is my Network Connection driver: Intel® PRO/100 VE Network Connection ...is there an update for this driver?
  18. I use Windows XP SP2. I have never updated my drivers and don't know where to begin. I have read that they should be updated. Does anyone know an easy way to update my drivers? (preferably through a free site or freeware program or just manually showing me).
