  4. Does someone know of a site that allows me to update my drivers....? Basically looking for a site that will show me which drivers on my computer require an update and that allows me to update it (or shows me where to go to update it...). I have tried to figure it out myself and I have even gone to the Intel site to look for updates but to tell you the truth,...I was lost because I did not want to download the wrong thing.... I am using Windows XP.

  7. I'll try it when I get to my computer. But why would it be different anyway? Just doesn't make sense. I'll try it later tonight.
  8. Why do I need to try a mirror/different test so that I get a lower score? With Testmy.net's regular speed test site, here are my results below... With Index.dat: :::.. 11. Actually in the IE7 beta version it has NOT been discarded and it is actually hidden even if you do show all hidden folders. The key difference is the ability to delete the index.dat file without having to reboot and this is done through the TOOLS section while in an active IE7 browser (see attached item so that you can view what it looks like). What I find interesting and disturbing is that microsoft is stating they "...did away with" this when the fact of the matter is that it is actually more hidden than before and luckily unlocker is still able to work in this version....
  12. Swimmer and Cholla, Thanks for your feedback. I don't know what to say. You saw my before and after tests so I was letting them speak for themselves (...and I added my own feedback to it).
  13. By the way, it actually worked and my speed increased dramatically. I posted it twice. It's really quite amazing!!!!
  14. Why have 96 people read my post but noone responded. Has anyone tried it out? What was your outcome?
  15. I'm curious why so many people have read my post but noone has posted any response... Can someone please respond?
  16. http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=15926.new#new This link above is where I posted my latest speed tests and how they have increased because of my placing a dummy index.dat file that doesn't allow windows index.dat files from being recreated. My speeds are better than ever.
  17. From my tests, whenever i delete my phony index.dat file and allow the windows index.dat re-create itself, my speed drops to 12MBPS, and then when I apply my dummy index.dat file, my speed increases dramatically. This is incredible!!!
  18. This is my latest test....incredible!!!! :::.. 19. This is how I prevented index.dat from being re-created: install unlocker.exe 1. find index.dat and right click on it then select ... ... unlocker->delete 2. make a dummy index.dat (create a text file and add some ... ... repeat 1 and 2 for all instance of index.dat index.dat wont be recreate if you ... ... it by restarting window then use some index.dat viewer to test them, go on internet ... ... internet explorer wont write to index.dat ever ...
  20. These are my scores after preventing index.dat from being re-created through a method I was able to master. My advertised speeds are 15/2 :::.. 21. I downloaded ultra wipe and ran it but on re-boot it did not allow explorer.exe to execute. I had to run check disk in safe mode which replaced the cluster. Never using that again.
  22. This is regarding deleting index.dat....I thought I was clear Anyhow, if it is required for IE not for Mozilla firefox so why would there be a need. Anyhow I have been able to delete it, I just wanted to find out if it is possible to prevent it from being re-created.
