"1995, a certain maniac, supported by a huge organisation
and enormous economic resources developed the most
destructive computer virus to date. It can wreck the most
powerful systems in a matter of seconds and is almost
impossible to remove."
(made by the starwreck crew, when they succesfully dismanled a borg cube by instaling windows 95 on the core system...)

What i use really depends on the kind of file i'm trying to see/watch.
Usually it's MMJ 6.10 for mp3 files, and ms mediaplayer 10 for other things, sometimes quicktime after stripping out itunes, i don't want that on my pc anymore, especially with that pesky ipodhelper that seems to be always on and a memory hog.
Strange that apple is allowed to ship qtime and itunes in one file, so you can't get one without the other...

A couple of weeks ago i swapped my wireless mouse again for one with a tail, and i'm fairly hapy with it. (also got a new keyboard) Funny enough, the mouse was more expensive than the board, but no more batterycharging for me.

Check if the networking device isn't "disabled" in the hardware config screen, or that the connection itself is shut down (also easy to handle in the network settings).
