  2. well i recently upgraded my system, and either my new ethernet connector(on board) is way better than my old one, or cox fixed my speed, im guess its the former cause it coincided with my system change :::.. 3. well, ive ordered what i originaly listed so this thread can be nuked/trashed
  4. well overclocking consists of what? if i knew how i would just go with a 2500+ since they OC good(from what i hear) im going to be ordering within the next 30 mins, so i kinda want to fortify what im ordering
  5. so go for the 3000+ 400fsb? getting a heatsink + isnt a big deal i got a pcclub near me, they are good with prices on that kinda stuff, should i think about over clocking? i really dont know how
  6. i dont think they have a 400 fsb 2800+, its starts with the 3000+ and up :-/
  7. thank you for the input swimmer, the only thing i wanted to mention about th 3000+ im getting, is it has a 400 FSB, so wouldnt it be a bit better than what benches show for the 3000+ 333 FSB?
  8. hey guys, first off, please be constructive with the opinions. ive recently decided its time to upgrade my computer, and i dont exactly have the funds to go all out on the best components. i have a list here of the 3 things im getting, and everything else will be recycled off my old computer just want some input on these items: 1)RAIDMAX Blue 10-bay Case with 420W Power Supply, Model ATX-868WUP http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?descr.. 2)AMD Athlon XP 3000+ Barton, 400 FSB OEM http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?descr.. 3)MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR Motherboard(refurbished :-/) http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?descr.. total= $251 (pre-shipping) and thats about as much as i can spend. i went with the referbished to cut down some dollars :-/. my friend has that motherboard and says its pretty awsome. i just wanna get some input from u guys here if this is an ok set up(not top end i know, but could it hold its own and what not? decent frames in cs?). Ill be running a 5200fx ultra, 256 system ram till i get a 512 stick soon. and btw, im not looking to overclock, cause i really dont know how and i dont want to screw anything up. i would rather just not overclock and waste money cause i dont know what im doing
  9. two words to make that card and all other cards, practicly obsolete, pci express.... good for now, 3 months, not so good...
  10. wow, who is your isp, and where do u live?
  11. 77% free, thats while quite a few things loading tho , but yeah, i dont know how that helps i really would like it if *gets on soapbox* <rant>COX WOULD GET OFF THIER ASS AND FIX THIS SHIT</rant> *steps off the soapbox* its better than dialup, but if im paying for a 3000/256 line, i should get a 3000/256 line(take for reasonable interference, distance from server, clog on server, ect.) maybe if i tell them to upgrade my line it will get better? lol i dont know...
  12. lol, too bad cox doesnt lease out those kinda lines eh?
  13. well i went and chatted with a cox person on their support chat, and he let me know something WAS wrong with the connection in my area, and that the tech's were aware of it. But it was not known when it would be fixed, however, not 1 hour ago my internet kicked off, came back (X2) now my speed looks more like this ::: Download Stats ::: Connection is: 865 Kbps about 0.9 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB) Download Speed is: 106 KB/sec Auth Code: 2012976 (validate at http://www.testmy.net) Bottom Line: 15 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 9.66 second(s) Validation Link :: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check.cgi?ta=&top=&align=&num=2012976&kbps=865&gen=gen&a=9.14285714285714&b=1.71428571428571&c=1145.14285714286 still only what? 25% of what i should be getting? i guess a boost is a boost
  14. yeah i know windows ME sux, but could it really be hindering my connection that bad? cause im using the same computer as when i had cable before and the speeds are less :-/ when i get the chance i guess ill go blow 5 bucks for a usb cable and try it lol
  15. sorry for not leaving specs, i have a linksys modem(model BEFCMU10)no router at the moment, and running windows ME. im not sure, what kind of Specs u are looking for? and i have no spyware, i run spybot search & destroy all the time, and it comes up with nothing
  16. hey guys, i was wondering if anyone could help me out some. Ive had cable before, i have Cox(again), and i live in mesa. before when i had it it was much faster than this, and ive gotten it again and its, well, really slow ive run the tweak from speedguide, even one of their registry tweaks. anything i can do to get it up to faster speeds? ::: ::: Download Stats ::: Connection is: 652 Kbps about 0.7 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB) Download Speed is: 80 KB/sec Auth Code: 2009781 (validate at http://www.testmy.net) Bottom Line: 12 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 12.8 second(s) Validation Link :: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check.cgi?ta=&top=&align=&num=2009781&kbps=652&gen=gen&a=5.71428571428571&b=1.71428571428571&c=1145.14285714286
